Restaurants Blanko & Tintå closing temporarily for renovations: Due to massive HVAC, piping and electricity renovations that take place in the over 200 years old Bassi building, Blanko is forced to close its doors for the winter on October 16th, and Tintå for the rest of the year on October 23rd. We are truly sorry for the inconvenience and thank all our customers for their patience. You are all warmly welcome once we open Tintå again in the beginning of the year and Blanko in spring 2018! Meanwhile, our sister restaurant Nerå keeps on serving you at Läntinen Rantakatu 37.

Cheap, good value lunches

Blanko is located on the banks of the Aura River just a short stroll from the city centre. Weekdays they serve good wholesome lunches that include coffee and confectionary as a small but sweet dessert. We had a shrimp pasta meal which was of generous quantity, tasty and presented to perfection. Seats and tables can be reserved and patrons are able to sit outside to share cigarette smoke if they wish. We chose an indoor table located on the lower level to the left of the entrance - it was cooler and less crowded on the day. The service was quite satisfactory from energetic staff. Without doubt, for a fulfilling lunch this restaurant is hard to beat for both speed and efficiency and cost.

It’s been about a decade since last visit and the signature lamb pasta still lingers in the memories. This time tried the hummus and the shrimps as first courses. Delicious, especially the full and tangy flavors of the latter. Had the lamb salad as main course and it was beautiful. Tasty lamb but felt fresh and balanced in the salad form this time. The service was friendly and attentive to kids (seemed they could tailor many options to kids even if not displayed on the menu). Will visit again next time in Turku!

Quick visit - everything worked

Had a quick visit to Turku on a sunday. It's a shame so many restaurants are closed on sundays. Anyway, Blanko was open and the food was delish! I had salmon with rasberry and avocado, very nice! My husband had a tiger-prawn salad and our girls enjoyed their mozzarella pasta. Service was a little from the quieter side, but the job got done. Would visit again.

It will take an effort to spend your money here

Was ready for a tourist trap given the location of the place, yet felt ok after the visit. Place clearly is very popular among tourists and even more so (from what I saw) locals. I was lucky to get the last available table for lunch, after me more than 10 groups of people came within ~1h time wanting to get in, unfortunately place was fully booked. Suggestion - have a sign on the door that indicates when place is booked / tables available to avoid people opening and closing doors which lets cold/hot air in (depending on weather) and creates minor inconvenience especially for tables closer to doors. Food was great, really nothing less of an upscale restaurant. Great flavors, combinations of ingredients, left wondering what did I just eat, which is a good sign for me for such price range. Definitely expensive place, bill can easily exceed 50 EUR per person. At the same time portions are big - ordered lamb salad (full portion) for one person and celery steak for another which was plenty. Atmosphere was the biggest letdown - place felt like a regular restaurant / cafe, not matching the bill, level of detail in dishes, especially tables closer to entrance = staff and clients running around you pretty much constantly. Staff was kind yet kinda in a hurry all the time, also we had to wait longer than expected before we were approached by waitress to order and that also happened only after "stare-down" in addition to that waitress that took our order was a different one that showed our seats (felt like the initial staff member forgot about us). Worth visiting - 50/50. If you have spare 50+ EUR per person and are into food - yes, if you just want to eat - probably no.

Kimchi in hanger steak that is not kimchi!

Disappointed with the "hanger steak pita korean style" since it did not come with kimchi but with sloppy chopped china cabbage that was not fermented at all and some sweat sause. When the waitress asked us if we were satisfied with the meal and we told here that it was not kimchi she got offended and answered that "this is our fast kimchi". We said that kimchi actually is a trade mark and they shouldnt use that name and she started to talk back to us. Very unprofessionally handled. I do not recommend this dish.

Moderately good food, but slow and bad service

My wife and I went to a restaurant and I ate grilled Angus beef and my wife ate a leaf steak and for dessert we had coffee / tea and chocolate truffle cake. The food itself was good. The Angus bull I ordered was medium despite I order it medium minus. But the service, left a lot to be desired. We had a table reservation at 17:00. We had to wait about 15 minutes to get to the table. There was a free table, but there was no staff to guide us to the table. Every time it was really difficult to reach the waiter and it took too long for the waiter to come and ask for the order. We didn't find anything interesting about the starters, and the bread basket and spread that are usually used in restaurants of this level were not brought to the table. The bread basket / spread was also not available to order as an appetizer. It also took a long time for the food to arrive, and it's not nice to wait when you're hungry. For some reason, when you compared the service to other tables, the service at our table was about half as slow. I don't know if we just had bad luck with the waiter. Also, the taste of the food was not inquired about until after we had already eaten and again after a long waiting time we got the waiter to our table to take the dessert order.

Must-go place in Turku

Really good food where you know what you're getting, this place has not disappointed me since the first time and there has been multiple visits. Can recommend minute steak, burger and lamb pasta, which all are tasteful and good. Atmosphere is nice and service good, really nothing to complain. Highly recommended!

Great dinner

We were first time visiting Turku with my vegetarian friend and we chose Blanko for dinner because it was located right next to river Aurajoki. There is a terrace but we ate inside because it was quite chilly night. The inside of the restaurant was ambient and beautiful. The service was excellent through the dinner. We both had starters, main courses and desserts. Everything was excellent, really tasty and not too pricy! Will visit again on the next Turku visit. The menu had all different meals and it also had choices for my vegetarian friend.

Lambpasta almost made me cry

On a day trip at Turku needed something to eat and remembered this place.Fortunately they had a free table, this place is usually fully booked. Lambpasta almost made me cry and primitivo wine was just the right choice as recommended. Friendly service, I will come back.Book a table and enjoy.

Quite a successful dinner

I had roasted cauliflower and smoked celery steak, which were good and cooked to perfection. The tatas were also tasty. The sauce of the dish was too strongly flavored compared to the mild taste of the main ingredients. Likewise, the green, which was apparently some sort of nut puree, had a strange taste and didn't go well with the other flavors. The man ate parmesan salmon, which had been better done in Maui. The service was good and the environment was pleasant. We were able to change the table to a quieter space, which we greatly appreciate.

Eating alone

I went to eat alone. The service was fast as the food (lamb pasta) came to the table in about five minutes. The pasta was dumplings and the lamb was lukewarm. During this time, the question arises whether the micro has been used. The wine I ordered came when the food was almost finished. The staff's attention was focused on future customers and not on those already dining. Frustration.

The old classic still strong - extremely tasteful food

Excellent food, excellent service, homey and functional interior and exquisite restaurant location. I’ve visited Blanko many, many years ago and remembered it to be a top-notch and was a bit worried that would it still meet my expectations after all these years. But it outweight them! Everything was tasteful, even our kids said that it was the best leaf steak they have ever eaten. And they have eaten it a lot in many different restaurants all over the world. I can especially recommend the lamb pasta, it is a Blanko classic.

Excellent food and service

We had a great evening get together at the restaurant. The waiter who served us was extremely helpful and took a good care of us. Food was very good even tho the famous lamb pasta didn’t wow me completely

Kimchi that was not Kimchi but cabbage with red sauce

I ordered Hanger Stake Korean style. It was said to contain Kimchi. Instead it contained Chinese cabbage with some red sauce on it. It was not Kimchi because it was not fermented at all. When we pointed out this to the waiter she just said” well, it is our “ fast Kimchi” and no it is not real Kimchi because Kimchi is not a trade mark” so in other words she found it totally okay to sell the cabbage as Kimchi and when we pointed it out, she seemed to take it personally. I basically paid 26 euros for a kebab roll, the meet was okay but that’s all. I don’t recommend this dish!

Lamb pasta nicely done

Dinner outside with friends. They recommend their signature pasta and lamb dish, which didn’t disappoint. Tender lamb, no stringy parts. Pasta cooked al dente. I’d gladly return.
