Tasting menu has been a satisfying experience every time and the wine package compliments the food very well while also providing new drink experiences such as sake and yuzu sake coctail for dessert. Service has been friendly and you don't need to wait excessively for...the dishes. Most of the tables are quite close to each other and that's a small downside for introvert-minded people.More
The best place where we have been in Turku so far. The waitresses, the food, the ambiance, the music, all was matching to spend a great time. We highly recommend this place for food lovers. Karu is always a great choice! I recommend sharing various meals to get the most of it. Their sushi is one of the bests in Turku, and the buns and sashimi are a must-try!

First time visiting Karu - would have expected something truly extraordinary with these prices, unfortunaly there was hardly any difference to reasonably prized sushi restaurant like Hanko Sushi. One piece of sushi 2 euro each and size of a nigiri 50% of the ”standard” size;...also, some of the nigiris’ rice could not keep the piece together. The atmosphere/general feel/interior of the restaurant is neither welcoming or charming; the rough design on furniture does not really act for their benefit; chairs were uncomfortable to sit. Way too overpriced; created expectations that did not realize. Left the restaurant dissappointed and hungry. Will not return.More
First, the menu are very interesting. But what really shock me is, the TRADITIONAL Miso Soup in the menu came without Toufu at all instead of CUCUMBER. That is not a Miso Soup. You charge 6.90 for a Miso without Toufu? And the wakame are...also huge disappointment, not the traditional Wakame instead the same seaweed from the miso soup which is completely different. The California maki are Prawn Egg Signature but they used sesame seeds instead. I never see California Maki with no prawn egg. And yet with such high price. The food are nice, but I feel like being cheated for the price I paid.More

A truly exceptional culinary experience! We had the vegetarian surprise menu, and it was like a finnish-japanese symphony: well composed, beautiful overture, amazingly dramatic flavors, and a wonderful finale! The service was loving and enthusiastic. We'll be back!
Karu ticks all the boxes of what I expect from a restaurant. It has a creative menu cooked by motivated and professional chefs. Dishes are freshly made and tasted fantastically. The long tasting menu was really good. So many different options, it really offered a taste of everything. The buns with soft shell crab - oh boy! As was the salmon offered at the same time. Loved it all!

it was our second experience of dinner at Karu which can be one of the delights within Turku. The food is extremely well prepared and presented especially the avocado and tuna snack and Nigirisushi: the kitchen staff especially must be complimented on the quality. However,...during these days of increasing virus infections, restricted and recommended social distancing we found the restaurant sadly lacking in their commitment to ensure customer spacing. The tables, barely large enough to be supported by 4 legs were far too close for comfort. The hard walls and lack of absorbent decor raised noise levels to ear-ringing proportions and all but one the waiting staff paid scant attention to the way they handled first money and transactions and then laid tables without using the singular bottle of sanitiser. The chopsticks used for the meals were unprotected and handled in a casual manner by staff and the bowls made available for the soy sauce revealed evidence if not being completely cleaned. More attention to raising hygiene standards must be made for without doubt this most popular establishment and the quality of food makes Karu a most desirable hostelry in Turku.More
We have eaten here many times and every time the food is excellent. Even though I know it's going to be good I'm still surprised every time about how delicious it really is. The atmosphere is also nice and the staff is always very attentive,...welcoming and friendly, even if they would be having a busy moment.More
Went here and had Japanese for the first time and I wasn't disappointed! Had amazing sushi, maki, soup and really creative menu. Would highly recommend the tasting menu to have a bit of everything
