A fantastic dinner - worth a trip

Malabadi is a Turkish restaurant in Tampere, Finland. We had a three course dinner and a bottle of wine. They serve delicious, traditional Turkish food like roasted lamb and chicken accompanied with different sauces and rice. This restaurant is definitely worth a visit. Their staff is friendly and positive and the food - oh boy. Soft, juicy meat, fresh veggies and tasty sauces. Their Turkish bottle of red wine was a perfect pairing with the food. We had baklava for dessert and that was excellent too! A can whole-heartedly recommend Malabadi for anyone. Even though it's ethnic, the food doesn't have too strong flavors and I can recommend it to kids too.

Delicious brunch

We were there with another family and we were able to sit together even we needed lot of space. Good food, good service, reasonable prices and good access with baby carriage. Cozy and beautiful restaurant.

Nothing to write home about

Heard a lot about this place and how good it is . Luckily I tested it during lunch time , so ” The damage ” was only 11 euros . The abundant lunch buffet was a celebration of tinned food . Looked like the kitchen staff had opened cans and cans of food and mixed it together . Nothing fresh , just a mishmash of beans , tomatoes and spices . A far cry from delicious , well made Turkish food . Will not go back !

Still a Good Place to Eat!

I ate at this restaurant before, and today we came back for another family lunch. TripAdvisor claims it is closed, but it was open. The restaurants still claims to offer the nicely selected lunch buffet, but in fact, they do not offer it anymore, probably due to the Coronavirus situation. The food still of great quality, the staff are polite speak English! Prices are little on the verge of high! On weekends, there is the possibility of free car park on the street in front of the restaurant!

One of the Best in Tampere

Having tried Mediterranean cuisine elsewhere (indeed in its birthplace), I had very high expectations going to Malabadi. I certainly wasn't disappointed. The space is very calm and inspiring; clean, perfectly organized. A very discreet piano music was floating in the air. You feel instantly relaxed and ready to get started. We tried the stuffed wine leaves for appetizer. The presentation was excellent, with an assortment of salad and vinegar, and the flavor was fresh, rich in mint, as it should be. For main we got the Imam and also the chickpeas. They were both full in flavor, perfectly balancing the complexity of Turkish spicing. The portions were large, but within reason. The staff were very friendly and efficient, and even one of the chefs made an appearance (though it was a mildly busy night) to make sure we were satisfied. Top-class service. The prices were on the same level as other restaurants in Tampere - considering the large portions and the excellent service & atmosphere (not to mention the excellent food), I'd say the prices represent superb value. We paid about 50 euros for appetizer, two mains, and two 16cl glasses of wine. 25 euros per person for appetizer, main course, and wine is more than reasonable for Finnish standards. We even got a complementary caramel at the end. Overall, a flawless experience. I'd definitely go again.

The best Turkish restaurant in Tampere

No doubt about that. The best. The menu here is turkish a la carte at its best. Wide enough variety to choose from so I'm sure everyone will find something they like. And the food they serve... it's amazingly tastefull. Owners and the staff is really friendly and the atmosphere here is relaxed. The restaurant is located few blocks outside the city center but it's only like 5 mins walk from the railway station. A place definitely worth visiting.

Amazing food, lovely people!

We had the köfte and the Pirzola, with a shared starter. Food was prompt and delicious, generous portions and the guys from the restaurant were absolutely lovely! Really fresh and amazing! We would have taken pictures, but we ate too quickly! Thanks for an amazing experience :)

Late brunch

We arived almost at the end of brunch, and not only did the staff greet us with smilies and welcome us to eat, they prepared more food to make sure we had enough to eat. The grandmother in the party can’t eat spicy food so they prepared a special dish. I’ve never felt more welcome at restaurant. Strongly recomended!

Grumpy waitress

I have visited this restaurant several times and the food is good and service nice. However today there was grumpy old man who screwed everything. May be he was an owner I don’t know, but his knowledge on customer service was null. After dozens of visits, this was the last time I am going to visit here. One block towards itsenaisyydenkatu there is Indian restaurant, go there. No grumpy old men there!

Excellent salad buffet for lunch

The salad buffet never lets you down. The lunch is reasonably priced considering the variety of choices you have on the buffet. There are of course warm dishes as well but I have never stumbled upon anything extra special there, and there has been no need to since I am always more than happy with the salad choices. Coffee and a nice variety of cakes is included in the lunch as well. This is a great place to visit with kids because there is lots of room to maneuver in and the kids always find something they like in the plentiful selection. Even though most days the place is packed, we have never had trouble finding a table, not even last time when there were 7 of us. There are a couple of bigger tables that are reserved for groups over 5 people, which is very handy. The service was friendly although when you pay at the counter and select your own dishes in the buffet there is not much service needed.

Brunch

A nice change to other brunches in Tampere. Meat quality average, salads and sauces excellent as well as the desserts. We would rate the service also but since there was none it is impossible. The place is clean and looks well taken care of but waitresses should go to a service school. The didnt have much to do behind the counter so they could have asked at least once during the meal is everything ok. Cheese cake was also great.

Excellent Food / Maistuvaa ruokaa

We joined the buffet and got to taste many different flavors and treats. Food was great, price well within reasonable, and service was friendly. The decor of the place is beautiful, and we enjoyed the nice details around us. Nautimme paikan seisovasta pöydästä napojen paukuntaan asti - maukasta ruokaa oli tarjolla runsain mitoin, jälkiruokapöytää unohtamatta. Hinta oli kohdillaan ja paikan sisustus loi ihanaa tunnelmaa.
