Tiiliholvi is a traditional restaurant, located in a beautiful brick vault of the students house in Tampere. They are offering typical european and local cuisine with some twist of their own. Atmosphere is relaxed and personnel is very helpful and friendly. They are offering a four...course summer menu with a reasonable pricing but we chose to take from the a la carte list. We has escargot for appetizer and catch of the day (pike perch) as well as salmon with shrimp oats as main course. Everything was very good and portions were so big that we could hardly manage them. Tiiliholvi can be recommended for any kind of event.More

Great food, lovely atmosphere and friendly service! I loved how they described what there is actually on the plate.

Mixed dinner. We had a group of business friends eating here before Christmas. My own food was good but few ppl in our group ordered fish as a main course and it was substandard, and they didn’t even finish their food. Service was friendly!

Calm almost tiring atmosphere, a bit stiff. White table cloths and fabric serviettes. Good food, made of fresh products, served by professional staff.

Good food, really nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Food was quite traditional with a slightly modern twist. Everything looked nice and tasted good. Fine dining restaurant and I can easily recommend this restaurant.

This restaurant has been one of the corner stones of Tampere's restaurants. A classic, if you will. Not this time. A group of people wanting to enjoy a dinner. The waiter was nice and friendly, but had too many people to serve by herself. Also...was not able to "read the room", so sometimes things felt owkward. Unfortunately the food disappointed also. This was a real surprise. The fowl as a starter was great, otherwise felt like in a generic hotel reaturant. I really do hope this was a one time glitch.More

The place is really nice. Authentic red bricks. Starter, the snails, were a bit tasteless, so more garlic and parmesan. Steak was very tasty and done as expected.

We had a dinner with friends at Tiiliholvi after a theatre show. The restaurant is nicely located in the centre of the city so it is very convenient after any other urban activity. The table reservation was made via table online and even though we...had to make small changes to that, everything was ready when we arrived. Service was very friendly and after a long discussion we ended selecting the "surprise menu, 4 courses" for everybody. A small minus to the restaurant that you need to have everybody in the table eating the same menu - it is not possible to have e.g. one person eating something else. However, this menu was a good choice and also food for your eyes. The menu consists of two starters (we had cauliflower soup and salmon), a main course (dove's chest) and dessert. In case you are in a hurry, don't select this as it took 3,5 hours for us to complete this menu - so this is really a choice if you love slow food! Service was very friendly and nice. And we got good hints from the waiter where to go as we had a couple of hours time before leaving the city.More

Very classic restaurant in Tampere. So if you want to have a fine dining experience in the exceptional venue this is something to be considered. Although it is a classic place they do follow time and you can see a modern twist in the dishes...as well.More

Located in really nice surrounding, place looks like a huge winecellar. Atmosphere and the service were really great. Portions were quite small but looked quite nice. Prices were well over the bar and the main thing, the flavoure, it was missing. This oldschool restaurant needs...a real update, and fast!More

We ate a 3 course menu here. The ingredients were fresh and the environment is fascinating because of the history. The starter and dessert were good and had some classical Finnish tastes. However, I was a little disappointed to my main course. The taste was...nothing I would like to come back to eat. The service was very good.More

Tiiliholvi is a famous restaurant in Tampere, been here for decades. It’s in the basement of the building, with brick walls and arched ceiling and candles in the tables. It can be quite atmospheric, a warm breath on cold winter evenings We’ve been here a...couple of times, this time for a late lunch on a Friday. We were the ONLY customers in the large restaurant. The waiter told us that there had been others earlier, but business was quiet because we were later than others, and because it was the fall break week at schools (and consequently for many parents as well). This obviously had an effect on the atmosphere. We chose the set lunch menu. The starter was tomato soup with a broad bean croquette. The waiter warned that the soup is hotter than normal, and indeed it was. Not overly so, but as we prefer milder food, not the best start for the lunch. For the main course we chose overripe neck of veal with funnel chanterelle risotto. The veal and the risotto were very tasty. We had some super well done necks in Spain in the summer, this was not quite on par, but good nevertheless. The dessert was chocolate and vanilla. Hard to get those wrong. Good ending. At 27 euros, this was a good lunch in a restaurant of this caliber, the competitors would charge more. Service was a bit disappointing. It was fast enough, as one would expect since we were the only customers, and two waiters + the cook there just for us. But the waiter who served the first two dishes had no interest in what we thought of the food, she just said “thank you” when she collected the plates. I tried to ask something when she brought the main course, but she did not pay attention. And the chatting of the two waiters was pretty audible. Things got better when there probably was a change of shifts, and the waiter from the dessert on was friendly and attending.More

This restaurant is better known for its fine dining so it was interesting to see what they invent to the pintxo competition. They were very brave; it was a vegetarian pintxo. I think they were not that successful with the pintxo. It was very dry...and the tastes were therefore a bit dull. Surprisingly, there was only 3 different pintxos. The atmosphere was still a bit stiff and official, should have been a bit more relaxed.More

Business lunch in unique atmosphere: old cellar restaurant, waiter telling interesting history story of the place. Tasty food, kind personnel. Home-made bread. I would have raited this restaurant excellent, if there had been some fresh salad or vegetables with main course. Anyway, this restaurant is...worth visiting!More
