Restaurant Tiiliholvi offers what is best described as classic finnish cuisine with a modern twist, like the pork and pear we have had. On paper, it seemed like a daring idea - a bit like make or break - but it did work well. The different flavors did combine well together and offered a very interesting tasting experience. The cheeses plate, while good, didn't include local products. Rather, cheeses you can find everywhere. Pity. On a side note, the bread costs 4€, which borders to extortion The wines seem to be the strong point there. And indeed, one can find a wine for every budget - from a generic Bordeaux to a "Grand Cru". Beware though, as the online list is not the same as the one we were given. For our dinner, the list of "unique red wines" (for the french wines) was 99% Bordeaux, with just one bottle of Bourgogne (Chambolle-Musigny 2014, which we took), as opposed to the online list with lots of Chambertin which interested us at first. The service is very professional, knowledgeable, and attentive to the every guest's needs. Our glasses were never left to dry up. That is the signature of an excellent service.

We booked a dinner for Saturday night and the fixed summer menu did not dissapoint. All four courses including the wine package were delicious, elegant and fresh. The staff was welcoming and knowlegeable about the ingredients and wine. Great attention to details, spottlesly clean, lovely ambiance and atmosphere. Highly recommended and we will return.

It was a really nice evening in this restaurant. The food was tasty, although I would have seasoned the the sauce stronger (pepper steak). The waiter _Sami_ was a real professional and kept the atmosphere high. He even anticipated guests' wishes before they "opened up". I warmly

Tiiliholvi is a traditional restaurant, located in a beautiful brick vault of the students house in Tampere. They are offering typical european and local cuisine with some twist of their own. Atmosphere is relaxed and personnel is very helpful and friendly.They are offering a four course summer menu with a reasonable pricing but we chose to take from the a la carte list. We has escargot for appetizer and catch of the day (pike perch) as well as salmon with shrimp oats as main course. Everything was very good and portions were so big that we could hardly manage them. Tiiliholvi can be recommended for any kind of event.

Mixed dinner. We had a group of business friends eating here before Christmas. My own food was good but few ppl in our group ordered fish as a main course and it was substandard, and they didn’t even finish their food. Service was friendly!

Good food, really nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Food was quite traditional with a slightly modern twist. Everything looked nice and tasted good. Fine dining restaurant and I can easily recommend this restaurant.

This restaurant has been one of the corner stones of Tampere's restaurants. A classic, if you will. Not this time. A group of people wanting to enjoy a dinner. The waiter was nice and friendly, but had too many people to serve by herself. Also was not able to "read the room", so sometimes things felt owkward. Unfortunately the food disappointed also. This was a real surprise. The fowl as a starter was great, otherwise felt like in a generic hotel reaturant. I really do hope this was a one time glitch.

The place is really nice. Authentic red bricks. Starter, the snails, were a bit tasteless, so more garlic and parmesan. Steak was very tasty and done as expected.

We had a dinner with friends at Tiiliholvi after a theatre show. The restaurant is nicely located in the centre of the city so it is very convenient after any other urban activity. The table reservation was made via table online and even though we had to make small changes to that, everything was ready when we arrived. Service was very friendly and after a long discussion we ended selecting the "surprise menu, 4 courses" for everybody. A small minus to the restaurant that you need to have everybody in the table eating the same menu - it is not possible to have e.g. one person eating something else. However, this menu was a good choice and also food for your eyes. The menu consists of two starters (we had cauliflower soup and salmon), a main course (dove's chest) and dessert. In case you are in a hurry, don't select this as it took 3,5 hours for us to complete this menu - so this is really a choice if you love slow food!
Service was very friendly and nice. And we got good hints from the waiter where to go as we had a couple of hours time before leaving the city.

Very classic restaurant in Tampere. So if you want to have a fine dining experience in the exceptional venue this is something to be considered. Although it is a classic place they do follow time and you can see a modern twist in the dishes as well.
