Went to Bertha’s on a recommendation. The food was excellent though having been seated on the outer room felt like we were being treated this way because we are not Finns. Every guest who came after us were directed to the main dining area.

Really friendly staff. Did the tasting menu with the wine flight. Really well paired wines and delicious food. Will definitely visit again.
Set 5 course menu designed by their chief. Excellent variety and very unique, sophisticated dishes. Friendly and fast service
Bertha is a small fine dining restaurant in Tampere. It’s beautifully decorated with nordic light furniture and atmosphere is friendly and relaxed. Bertha is offering a five course menu as regular and vegetarian versions. We took the regular one where the main course was horse...filet with lettice and delicious oxtail sauce. All three apetizers and the dessert were excellent as well and the complete menu was a genuine dining experience. Bertha belongs definitely to the few real fine dining places in Tampere.More
The restaurant offers only a set menu (and a vegetarian option) but the food was without exception excellent. Some surprises for our French cuisine tailored tastebuds but all of them very pleasant indeed. If the Michelin inspectors can ever be persuaded to travel north of...Helsinki, this place will surely be high up their list!More
Excellent food, wine and service. Good jokes atleast in Finnish. We had the vegetarian menu with wine package and it was lovely! Be sure to book in advance.
Everything was tasty, the wines were delicious but I only got goosebumps once (main course). The service was excellent and atmosphere nice, although I would prefer this sort of places to be only for adults (children screaming and running around kind of distroy the magic).
Absolutely amazing! Excellent, delicious , beautiful food and superior wines. Fantastic service and great atmosphere.
Excellent service and wonderful food! Nice atmosphere and good location. Definitely will come back soon. Highly recommended.
I dined at Bertha the first time five years ago, and it was one of the most memorable restaurant evenings of my life. I was meaning to return, but for no particular reason I only managed this autumn. For a short while Bertha was absent...from my "to eat -list", since they stopped offering a vegan version of the menu. But as they reinstated it this summer, I vowed at last to return with my dear wife. Currently the menu consists of four courses, and we decided to combine it with a wine package. It was a great run, food and drinks both, and service was impeccable, not pretentious at all. First we had a wonderful miso and vegetables soup with potato-buckwheat bread. This was truly one of the best soups I have ever eaten! The second course consisted of red beets, radicchio, chickory and wild mushrooms. It was accompanied by a perfect barbaresco. The third course, accompanied by a great chardonnay, was deep fried Jerusalem artichoke by a "cheese" sauce: unbelievable. The dessert was a combination of buckwheat cake, aquafaba meringue, apple and pine pollen. With it we had some excellent riesling, and after that we treated ourselves with some yuzu sake.More
We both had the "menu of the day", 4 amazing courses with just the right amount of food. Good, clear flavours. Super seasonal which we love. We happened to be there on a quiet night so we got to enjoy some extra attention which was...extremely pleasant for the whole experience. 6/5 for service 4/5 for food. Definitely will return. Definitely can recommend. Wine pairings were amazing..! Just go! No bullsh*tMore
Great food with on style, service excellent, nice cozy place. A little pricy. Reserve table especially weekends but also during week. Menu changes, kitchen decides what you eat
Out for a fancy fine dining dinner. I got the vegetarian menu while the other 2 people got the normal meat menu, so we could see the whole deal. As someone who is very passionate about cooking and using interesting flavors, especially in the vegetarian...section, the dinner for me was a complete let down.. The vegetarian dishes were Very bland and one-note throughout the whole experience.. No balance within the dishes, and no exciting variance between meals... The main trend throughout was "some mushy smoked root vegetable with a pickled side". So it just tasted smoky and sour. Nothing salty, nothing spicy, nothing sweet...Just smoky and sour, the whole dinner (even the dessert)... Could have at least played with different textures, but even that was lacking.. The whole thing was just desperately begging for variety. It is Very clear that the chef is not very knowledgeable about vegetarian food, as it requires extensive specialization and experience. Just removing the meat and throwing in another root vegetable as a substitute isnt gonna cut it. My suggestion? If you want to try new exciting vegetarian dishes, I recommend just going to either a specialized vegetarian restaurant or a restaurant that uses Asian flavors (they tend to get it right.).More
This prix fixe menu restaurant is a wonder. The servers are warm and funny. They’re really helpful. The food is extraordinary. 2 of the dishes are among the best things I have eaten—mussels with custard, apples, horseradish and dill. Soup of smoked cod with cream...and pickled cucumber and sliced Radish. All the other dishes were quite fine and filled with exceptional flavors, in particular the lingonberry dessert worth caramel , spruce shoots, rose petals, white chocolate and sour cream flavored ice cream. I would travel back to Tampere in order to eat here againMore
Great experience of fine dining with predefined menu - giving decisions to the hands of staff. Nice relaxed atmosphere with very friendly service, and without white tablecloths. Had a 6 course menu with selected wines. The kitchen style could be described as experimenting, some of...combinations and ingredients being very innovative. In this time they really succeeded with some of courses, like the desert which was truly good without being any way near of too sweet. Some courses a bit plain. No doubt that the food will receive different opinions. Best is to come with open mind and without expectations of traditional dining. Selected and offered wines were overall good, though they have some better in closet - point of improvement here. Stuff is quite far away from traditional fine dining with a nice stories, good humour and ready to discuss with you - in short they succeeded in creating the extra twist in the dining experience. Worth to visit, but with open mind and relaxed feeling.More
