Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Were drawn in for lunch after seeing loaded fries on the menu. Great marketplace setting, simple seating and good, tasty food on disposable plates with disposable cutlery. The buffalo chicken fries with numerous toppings was excellent if not exactly brilliant value for money. We didn’t...try their burgers but they looked great, so perhaps that’s next! A tasty lunch stop.More

We came here hoping to find a good-value lunch option on a weekday. The market hall is quite busy and large, so I'd recommend having an idea of what you want to eat if you're coming here for food, as the choice can be a...bit overwhelming and you don't always feel like you can stop and have a look at the options in detail. We ate at Kotilounas in the end, choosing the weekday lunch option, which is unbelievably good value for money once you understand how it works. It's a little like a canteen/cafeteria set-up. You choose from a selection of hot meals with a hot side dish at the counter and pay, then find a table, and help yourself to as much salad, water, juice, tea or coffee as you like, and there's even a small dessert included - all for €10 per person. The food we had was tasty and warming, and the staff were able to explain to us what we needed to do. At the end you tidy up after yourself, which can be a bit confusing if you don't speak Finnish, as the signs are all in Finnish - watch a local do it, then follow their lead! All the people we saw eating here were Finns, so we felt we'd had an authentic experience. The food offerings change daily - the menu is available on their website - and they aren't necessarily traditional Finnish dishes.More

Tampere Market Hall was opened in 1901 in a beautiful art nouveau building. It is one of the biggest indoor markets in the Nordic countries. With its 30 vendors, it offers everything from fresh fish to cheese, pastries, and local delicacies. We didn't find what...we were looking for. Something small to eat with wine. So we ended up in Pyynikki Brewhouse next to our hotel.More

Kauppahalli was opened 08.06.1901 and buildt by the community Tampere. The market hall does not look of a lot going on the street looking for it. But entering through the door wow. Here are more than 40 small shops, cafe and restaurants. You will find...fish, meat, cheese, fruit, greens, cake and bread. All kind of service and plenty of smal restaurants or cafes. In the 60 70 ties they had a hard fight with the supermarkets around, But today they are doing well, quality and fresh food is a brand for them. Have a bit or just walk slowly around and enjoy. Open daily apart from Sunday.More

This Markethall combines a couple of "streets" with food, looking fresher than fresh and yelling "eat me or at least try me" from fruits to vegatables, all kind of cheeses and sausages, flowers, pastry!!!!! and places to have a bite to eat; and little areas...where people over 18 can play gambling machines (as you can find them everywhere in Finland, even in supermarkets). Great place to stroll around and take pictures.More

This great market offers a wide variety of restaurant stalls as well as bakeries, butchers, cheese shops and more. We had sandwiches (smoked salmon on pumpernickel, salmon salad with egg and pickles on a soft roll, sardine and egg on pumpernickel) at one stall and...bought cheese from another. We’ll have to go back for coffee and pastry!More

A trip to Tampere isn´t quite complete without visiting the old market hall. You can stroll about enjoying the local atmosphere, buy gluten free goods, cheese, handicrafts, local beer from Flinda or whatever you fancy. There are several very good options for lunch. The local...street food option is to grab some black sausage or meatballs with side dishes for a few euros. The sushi at Liqun Zhang´s tiny joint is always fresh and impeccable. Ohana serves some of the best bugers in town. You can listen to the local dialect at a cafeteria or have the famous bouillabaisse with a glass of white wine at Neljä vuodenaikaa (The Four Seasons). The old market hall is right in the city centre. It is compact so it won´t take long to have a look.More

Opens at 8:00, so when you want to have your early coffee, here you have many opportunities: coffee and porridge with 3-4 € or all-organic-breakfast with 7 €. Many nice cafés and restaurants with Finnish and international specialities, shops with local products and for ex....a shop that sells small brewery products from all around Finland.More

This was one of my favorite places in Tampere. It is so fun to stroll down the aisles and see butchers, cheese mongers, florists, bakers and everything in between. You cam buy food to take home and cook or sit and have a bite to...eat and watch people go by. Some amazing breakfast places. I had pancakes with maple-bourbon syrup one morning that were heavenly! I was there in the winter and it was so cool to see how the Kauppahalli served as a community gathering place when it's so cold outside. People shop and visit and eat. The vibe is so positive and welcoming. The Finns are wonderful people and I can't wait to go back again someday. I highly recommend a stop (or two) here if you're in Tampere!More
