The food was one of the worse Indian food I have eaten in Finland. We ordered chicken Korma and it was not good at all. The chicken was raw from inside and the gravy was raw as well. They don't know how to make it..
This is one of the most popular restaurants in Jyväskylä at lunchtime - especially on Tuesdays and Thursdays when palak paneer is on the menu. Shalimar almost never disappoints, with its quick service and consistent quality. On a Finnish scale this is very tasty Indian...food, highly recommended.More
We were looking with colleagues to eat something for dinner with reasonable pricing and avoid fast food.
This restaurant serves very tasty food (i went vege), Indian beer a cardamon coffee.
I would return here.
Took chance even after reading lot of negative reviews, and then it turned out to be certainly negative, went for lunch, they gave me previous days basmati rice, probably just heated little in microwave, mutton curry was average, definitely will avoid next time
Always a pleasure to have a lunch at Shalimar. Even though the restaurant is often almost full during lunch hours, you can always find a place and they serve the food quickly. Food is really good and the portions are big enough. I would like...to have a bit more salad, that is my complaint.More
Excellent food and fast service. When ordering takeaway, the average waiting time is 15-20 minutes which is great. We have tested above 10 dishes, all delicious.
In overall, great Indian food for very reasonable price.
I have tried some Indian restaurants and have been to India myself, so I have something of an idea, what Indian food is like. I like the menu, having many different choices. A huge plus in this place is, that you can choose the spicyness...in every dish on a scale of 0-5! I had a lamb course and my wife had chicken. Both dishes were good, and we were happy with the food. This isn't something I would remember the rest of my life, though. The naan bread comes in original and garlic, both of which were good enough. Nothing special.
The restaurant is located in the commuting center of Jyväskylä, so it feels like a busy place. The atmosphere was somewhat peaceful nonetheless, and the place felt quite nice. I was awed, that we were the only customers there on a Friday night. The service was cold and straightforward. The waitress felt uninterested and busy, even though we were the only customers.
All in all, this is a good place to get Indian food. Most customers seemed to take their food to go, and I kind of see the reason why. You even get rather good discounts from the take-away dishes, so maybe in the future that's the way to go for me aswell.More
