We have been to Trattoria (Seurahuone) in Lahti many times. The food has been generally "good to very good" and depending who are behind the kitchen. We disliked more is the service because it can be very very slow. For example, we had to ask...for water several times before it came. They change personnel often in a short period of time. We noticed the frequency of "temporary/extras" waiting staff who may not have had enough training to do the basic waitressing job. Usually in Finland, they are unpaid workers and have minimal experience. We have learned that the best time to have dinner at Trattoria is by 18:00 especially during the weekends. The dinner can last 2-2,5 hours. The employees seemed to be overwhelmed in providing proper service because the establishment is often understaffed in the weekends. Despite that, Trattoria is still one of our favourites for the price, value and quality. Lahti has a limited number of proper restaurants compared to Helsinki.More

At lunch time it's all good and you'll get your lunch in decent time, but for the dinner be prepared that it will take the whole evening. At the dinner the food is very good but that won't save from the fact that the service...is disturbingly slow and e.g. the time between the main course and the dessert can be more than an hour. If you only order a main course and nothing else there's a slight chance you can make it out in under 2 hours. Even when you're with underage kids and it's getting past 9 PM they don't seem to serve you any faster. You will actually start suspecting that they've forgotten your existense while sitting at the table waiting for the time go by. Once we waited for the check for an hour and actually had to leave from the table and walk to the cashier to pay our dinner so we could go home. I've done the mistake of coming to this restaurant for dinner three times and it's always the same issue. I don't think I'll ever come back again...More

Had pasta caprese. I love pasta and I didn’t know HOW TASTY PASTA DISH CAN BE! Big hand and a five star recommendation to this food. Our table also had a salmon for the toddler and pizza - both super tasty as well. Loved the...nice background music and friendly staff. Very quiet evening, only three couples in a big restaurant with us but we waited even the first water glass over 20 minutes... When coming in, the waitres wanted to take us to the table with bad view and the back of the restaurant to...the front of bar desk where is quite loud as the staff is eorkibg there and he also said that we should wait as he make the table ready for us while same time the best tables of the restaurant were empty and already ready made so we didnt understand why to wait and why to go to bad table when there was perfect one already to sit on. Well, we sorted that just saying ”No we want to sit here where it seems to be more comfy and tables already ready made. Waiter said that they are open only two hours but then everyrhing took quite a lot time only because od their veeeeery slow service and we just managed to eat and still we felt like they were hurrying us. We got in on 20.05, and they were closing 21.30. We made order 20.10 but got food 21.30 so over hour of wait and empty restaurant... Still the meat was burned (never happened before anywhere), some of the ingredients were missing (they explained that they were selling the stock out as holiday season, well....nice for us, we still paid over 200€ check for the order). Not going there anytime soon again.More

We wemt after an event my friends enjoyed the main menu . I asked for plain chicken breast . They only had marinated breast . I ordered one with no spices it was extremely salty . The other guest enjoyed their meals .

Staff and ambience was on the spot.. But unfortunately the dish wash a disapointment.. If you cant make a Carbonara, then change the theme from Italian to something else.

If you want to eat a light lunch salad bar is a really good option. I think the best salad bar I've ever eaten and the house bread is really tasty. Lunch there are also three warm options to choose from. Ala carte menus include...delicious and tasty options.More

Had a nice dinner with my wife and service was quick and smooth. Tenderloin was supreme and our evening was very nice.

I shouldn't be surprised, but every time I come here I am thrilled with the food. Love the surroundings and the service. Every dish I have had here is way way above average. Try anything on the menu, you won't be disappointed. Also, watch the...Chefs in the kitchen (open viewing from the restaurant) - they are always so calm. Love it. The place was almost full, so we were happy we had reserved a table. We were placed at the back of the restaurant next to a very happy (and noisy) group of young ladies. Actually it was hard to even discuss because of the high...volume. Sitting in a Italian style place we decided to order some oven gratinated mozzarella to start with. It was a nice dish with typical Italian taste: pesto, tomato and pine nuts. As main courses we chose risottos with ragu and crayfish and also one portion of chicken with mascarpone-green pepper sauce. Risotto was tasty, maybe a bit salty. The chicken dish was also nice but the portion was quite small. The bill for three meals with one beer, a glass of wine and two coffees was about 90 euros; quite reasonable. The service was friendly and relatively quick considering the number of customers.More
