When i entered around 2 pm, it was hard to find an empty seat cause every table was occupied by people working on their computers. I even went upstairs - same...people sitting hours and hours with one cup of coffe in front of them and...occupying a whole table alone, is that really good business ? Or nice for "real" customers who want to sit down and eat ? So, finally i found a table and sat down and waited for my friend to arrive, we had plan to eat and enjoy for a while. Suddenly 4 very young teenage girls from the school next door sit down next to us. All of them had salads with them in boxes that they had purchased outside. They all took free water from the water dispenser and they ordered one cup of tea that they shared among them, 4 people. And after eating they started doing their homework together very loudly. You know, theres a public library next door for this purpose. Its not correct to go to any restaurant anywhere in the world with your own food and start to eat it there. So why do you guys allow this ? In almost all restaurants/coffe shops in the area they forbid that, for obvious reasons. Its just not good business. Its such a pity cause all the other policies in this place are so correct. Its a beautiful place and the food and drinks are good. The staff is amazing. But you will really loose customers if you keep this up, im sorry to say.More

Hi Ancelikh, Thank you for your feedback. We really appreciate it. I'm sorry that you've been through this and I really understand that lap top workers and having take away salads aren't okay. In autumn we've had "no computers on lunch time" signs on the...More

IPI Kumlakuppila is in a fairly unassuming (some would say gritty) part of Kallio but in a lovely building with a great interior. You're definitely in hipster territory here, but the coffee is some of the best I've had in the city (and that is...high praise for somewhere like Helsinki which is powered by the bean) and the food very high quality. The breakfast buffet will satisfy the most fussy of eaters. But the thing that I loved the most about the cafe was not just the food, but their approach to employment. People with disabilities are typically over-represented in unemployment statistics, but this cafe does something about it by employing some of them. Great food and employment for all? Top marks.More

Named after a grandfather with a Down syndrome grandchild whom he wanted to be treated as everybody else the light and airy cafe offers work for young people in similar circumstances. They may be more shy and silent than Finns in general, but service works...well. The pastries, cakes and sandwiches all look invitingly delicious. There is a cosy loft upstairs with easy chairs, laptop time is limited during lunch hour.More

We arrived just at opening time on saturday and were well advised to do so, the place filled up quite quickly. It is a beautiful café, with pretty good food and drinks and ideal for a big/late breakfast/brunch, or just a coffee with a friend...you haven't seen in a while.More

Great cafe to have good time. Most friendly staff, they are so nice. Good coffee, excellent pastry, fine food. And the interior is absolutely cool. Extra points (100) for being dog-friendly.

Slow down for a moment in a modern, scandinavian style café. Next to Karhupuisto park, easy journey by tram 3 or 9 from city centre. Nice selection of sweet and salty, hipsters and young mothers, freelancers and students.
