best stuffed egyptian pigeons ever! very kind, easy going and helpfull staff!! the food was very fresh and on time! there is a place for parking on the backstreet it was very easy to be reached out!

We went there on a recent trip to Helsinki. It was so good we decided it was pointless going downtown to eat because we simply wouldn't get better. So we went back a second and third time. It's a family-run place and the owners are very friendly. The food is excellent and so is the coffee. I want to go there right now!

Best Egyptian food

I always pass this place and was thinking of visiting and finally I had dinner here tonight. It's a small family restaurant. The owner (man) usually take the order and serves food. A nice gentleman and he knows how to treat a customer. I had mix of sish and kofta and it was the best I ever had. My partner had king prawn pot in tomato sauce and it was great too. I don't have much to talk about this place as it's very simple like home yet way high in food quality. I will surely visit this place again and offcourse recommend to everyone.

Took falafel with fries. Falafels were obviously homemade which was positive. Tomato and cucumber wete nicely shaped Salad included in the dish was withered a little bit but it’s not a biggie. True hero of the plate was white, yogurt based sour sauce called “Laab” as mentioned by the owner. It was really nice match with falafel and fries. Dish was maybe a little overpriced (13 euros) Atmosphere was home like and relaxed. No lunch menu. Going again one day.

Recommended absolutely!

I have passed this place almost daily for more than a year, and finally went in today. First I was surprised by the family-restaurant style waitering, literally by mom and a ten year old boy. Together we tried to figure out whats best on the menu today. I have to say that the eggplants and falafels were really damn superb! I dont know how they made them, but very tasty. I left with a big smile, there are still places in Helsinki that surprise me. Will go again for sure. Thank you.

Karim is back

After the fire accident they are back. Much is like it uswd to be: most of the menu, the owner himself, social and friendly, and - unfortunately the heat and the slow service. The food is authentic egyptian, quite nice actually. There is a promise of better ventilation, we will see.

Dinner for one

Decided to pay a visit after I saw some great reviews on tripadvisor, I must say that the kebab was delicious. The experience and knowledge put into making the food really came through once I had a taste. The owner was very kind and explained the menu for me (only in Suomi). I would revisit if I'm able!

Made to order, Fresh, Delicious!

this place has a great home atmosphere. the owners are very friendly and speak english. this is not fancy, but i prefer family feeling to that everyday. we took the eggplant and falafel plate: best eggplant and falafel i've ever had! and everything of course made to order. only set back is that its a bit high priced for the serving size we got- could be 2euros less per plate, but i guess that's what these small places have to do to stay in biz; it is family owned.

Take away Pizza, small pizza

Well they told me the pizza will take about 30 minutes, when I got there they were starting to prepare them, so I had to wait there about 10 minutes, so the prices are the normal prices you get in Helsinki for pizza, but when I open my pizza I realize that it was very little, maybe little less than 3/4 of the box, I have to say that the flavor was good, but 9€ for that was quite too much.

Consistent egyptian

El Karim has been there for ages. Always maintaing the consistent quality, no fine dining but you get plenty of honest food. The service is on the slow side. I had shish kebab which was just what you'd expect, served with a tasty sauce that was a tad too salty for my taste.

Nice egyptian food in Helsinki

We had lunch here with the family. Order made beforehand. Food was excellent. My favourite food is falafel and fool. Service was bit on slowly side but the place was backed. So good place but no fast food here.

So many great reviews

Yes I was a victim of reviews and stopped by for lunch. Well they do not have lunch, everything is prepared to order, which seems good. But, because the meat took so long to cook I ended up for vegetarian. So expensive that it ruined the experience, or lets say price - quality ration was just nothing. Half price or less would have made it ok. And the taste - nothing special, really nothing. Do not go there for vegetarian.

Almost like a home

Best Egyptian food in the world. Food is great: everything is hand-made and bread is baked after you order it. Tastes are plane, not too spicy, but delicious. My favorites are falafels, fuul and hawawshi bread. Service is very good and the owner/chef will tell you anything about the cooking if you just dare to ask.

Slow food for good :-)

We bumped into this restaurant by chance, driving around (public connection to get here is not bad either, though) and decided we had to give it a try. They cook EVERYTHING in their kitchen (even the bread!) and it's all worth tasting (we'll have to come back!) from appetizers to desserts. It's not a very big restaurant (i guess it can host about 15 people tops) but if it's full you might have to wait long for your food because, as i said, everything is cooked fresh from the start. P.S. The owner told us he's been open for 20 years
