Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a family-run business and the owners are lovely and friendly. Our food was very tasty and the portions quite big. Here you can also find Ramune soda which was really refreshing! I would recommend visiting!

I had lunch there once. Visually, the dishes are attractive... but that's it. Taste wise, nothing wrong, nothing special either. Just another restaurant serving more or less sushi style salmon dishes. If you are around the area, Mashiro might be a good place for lunch. Not sure any of the staff are japanese there.

Small and cozy japanese restaurant. Simple and fresh food. Beautiful dishes. Carefully prepared. Good news: they have opened a new restaurant in Postitalo with sushi train.

I ordered a Salmon Zukedon. It was just a pile of dry rice that was mostly garnished with salmon. The price was 13.95 euros, which is way too much for such a portion.

Had high expectations, but unfortunately the food turned out to be a huge disappointment. Dry rice, dry chicken, one piece of broccoli and a couple of pieces of tomato. Not worth the price.

Visited with a group of friends. The decor is a mix and match of cheap furniture. We struggled a bit with getting understood in elther Finnish or English, but at least the staff were friendly. The food itself was the biggest disappointment: our starter was basically just grated greens — which made a second appearance in our main course! Our dessert was the cheapest ice cream you can buy accompanied by a choice of one gooey ”treat” with a texture of gum. The wine menu consisted of ”a red wine” and ”a white wine”, but at least there were a few craft beers. After our meal we went elsewhere to order more food, as most of us were left hungry. While the price isn’t bad for Helsinki, you’re not getting your money’s worth here.

Smallish, but really nice restaurant in Vallila. Good food, great service, reasonably priced. They made kid sized portions for children, they had dishes for vegans, gluten free, etc. And their special chili sauce was excellent.

Several years ago, this restaurant was good but after the owner and name has changed, food was not good anymore. (It used be Hoshito and the chef was Japanese, but not anymore.) Now they serve tasteless food, such as salmon bowl, and I did not like it at all.The salmon bowl had five or six shin salmon slices on rice and no taste at all. Chicken dish was not good.

When we visited we were the only ones there so that might have been the reason why the chef talked to us a lot and we did not mind that. Food was delicious and there was enough to not leave hungry.

Went here with colleagues. It's in the big upper hall of the old post office. Not the most cozy but impressive overall. The service is good, the bowl is a simple approach with very nice marinated cucumber and very good rice. The portion was good, filling you yet not overeating

A small hole-in-the-wall, 16 seats. A local friend said "there you get nice Japanese dishes". Not so. The miso soups were correct, basic. Next were spoons with dried salmon and a drop of mayo. Those you make at home in two minutes. The main course had a nice looking mound of pre-cooked rice covered with ginger&soya marinated salmon surrounded by some plain frozen small shrimps. The salmon was quite good, the rice just edible. And the dish was far removed from "a nice Japanese dish". 24€ for this. Look elsewhere in Helsinki if you know Japanese food, or if you are a gourmand.

The place serves simple but very tasty and delicious food. Lunch prices are maybe a bit expensive but still worth a visit. It's a pity that the restaurant is so tiny with just a couple of tables.
