Really nice and welcoming atmosphere, good food and wine (we had menu “Väinämöinen” with the wine package). Our waitress was super nice and told just the right amount of the dishes and wines. Portions were ok size and the drinks we had first were really...good.More

The VÄINÄMÖINEN menu was absolutely delicious. I have never had such tasty whitefish tartar. And the raindeer filet was so tender it melted in the mouth.

Had a tasty lunch in very nice surroundings. The food was fresh and tasty and service fast and friendly. Decent pricing too, so will be back.

The restaurant has moved from near the Market Square to a new location close to the Opera Hall. The food, the staff and everything else is still the same, though. The place is upscale restaurant service 'traditional' Finnish food, sometimes with a twist. The service...is always excellent, the food is wonderful and the pricing isn't all too bad. It's not the cheapest one in town, but the quality of the food compensates that very well. Worth a visit!More

Starter soup was nice and smooth and having hint of some mushroom taste though it didn't have any. Reindeer was lovely and rare- was really rare-. Creme brule was goodas well though my opinion is that one scoop icecream was unnecessary. Service was good but...I was not so convinced about expertise on beers. They are just moving to a new location out of the busiest tourist area.More

In the heart of Helsinki, very delicious dishes, friendly people and moderate prices. Highly recommended!

Traditional finnish food with a twist and very well made. My new favourit in Helsinki, especially when it comes to dessert.

We were pleased with the food, but was slightly set back by the rather unfriendly service. It felt like the waiter was only doing his job, without any passion for the guests' well-being or the presentation of the dishes. In addition, swapping the dessert of...the fixed menu for the one from the other fixed menu was completely impossible. We were very surprised about this complete lack of flexibility considering the level that the restaurant wants to represent (and the fact that the price of the desserts a la carte were identical). Due to the low service level, we will not be returning customers.More

Absolutely wonderful food and excellent service. My wife had the whitefish to start whilst I had the reindeer - both really good. But the mains were even better. I had the liver whilst my wife had the Baltic herring. Both excellent meals, well cooked. I’d...highly recommend this restaurant.More

My wife and I dropped in for a late night light meal after a day of sightseeing. We walked n without reservation but managed to get seating in bar area. Located kitty corner from the Esplanadi, it's very convenient to visiting sites around Market Square...or Senatorii. Menu is modern Finnish and has full bar. We had fish soup and appetizers and it was an excellent late evening treat.More
