Really terrible customer service. I wouldn't recommend paying such prices to a place with bad staff. I expected more from a city center fancy restaurant.
First I called ahead to ask about the opening hours and a rude lady answering gave us wrong information (9am)...then upon checking the time online we decided to call again few days later but then they said that they never heard about a such thing and real times are 12am..More
I went there for lunch and had the vegetable-goat cheese focaccia. The vegetables (courgette, paprika and eggplant) were loose and oily.
The focaccia was not focaccia in my opinion. Especially as it was toasted which made it more of a toast than focaccia.
There was...also rucola and red pesto (tomato I assume) but they didn't really give any taste. The goat cheese was decent.
The cafe itself is beautiful! It was lovely to sit and look at all the people passing on the street.More
Waited for 20mins two cups and coffees and two pieces of cake, already available at the counter. Decided to leave after two requests, and others who had arrived after us served first. Maybe we weren't dressed fancy enough.
We were lucky to get a window table, a colder summerday to sit outside. A great view on people passing by, and the lovely Esplanade. We had a very good salmon sandwich and cake afterward. Satisfied, although not a great selection on the lunch side....The area is a place to look at the fancier side of Helsinki, we liked it.More
We have had a dinner several times at Strindberg. Unfortunately the latest time was a disappointment due to extremely noisy atmosphere. There was one very big group and another not so big, but the women were enjoyed too much alcoholic beverages and they could not...control their voice level at all. I think the best solution would have give the tables for couples having the table reservation the table from other area of the restaurant.
But then a few words about the food: we ate snails, salmon, pork and chateubriand - they all tasted very delicious. The service was quite good, but again because the two groups were shouting, we did not hear the waitresses speak nearly at all.
After all, we'll come back some day and I hope I am able to give then fours stars!More
I had a nice light lunch consisting of a glas of champagne and the larger serving of “Skagenröra “ . It was a generous serving of shrimp salad on a slice of dark bread decorated with a tiny bit of fish roe . It was...very satisfying.
When I checked my bill later on I saw that I had been charged for water for two ! I had not even asked for water . I should have known , since this has happened to me before at this particular restaurant . Service is friendly enough , but a bit arrogant .More
A friend who travels the world extensively recommended the upstairs restaurant as her favorite when visiting Helsinki, and we were not disappointed. Everything was very good: food, service, drinks. Weren't lucky enough to get a seat by the picture windows overlooking the Esplanade, but table...was fine; cozy atmosphere.Large portions. A really good garlicky appetizer of escargots a hit. Meatballs in a delicious brown sauce and grandma's creamy potatoes were outstanding. Good wine list. Overall a very good value-reasonably priced.Easy to see why it's a favorite of many reviewers.More
