We had dinner here tonight and ordered negroni which was perfect we also had the Tuscan soup and it was delicious then we had the black ink spaghetti with prawn and it was perfect. It has strong garlic flavours but delicious. We also had a side of spinach. Then we finished off with a tiramisu that would make any Italian proud. Bravo chef 10 over 10 from us

Fantastic Italian in the middle of old Helsinki!

Started with Negroni. They where able to serve half or a small portion of most items. I had octopus which was awesomely tender and accompanied by lovely vegetable and some optional sauce on the side. I paired with a goat cheese salad and they offered to sample some white wine, of which I picked a Chardonnay. Attentive staff and a great ambiance. Will definitely visit again.

Good old times....

This restaurant is no longer what it used to be. My husband's saffron risotto with beef Osso Buco ragout did not seem to contain meat at all. Perhaps there was only broth? Or, perhaps the waiter brought something else.... My overcooked pasta with king prawns was swimming in oil and it was rather tasteless. The antipasto were fine, but it is hard to spoil them. There seems to be a tipping system where you are supposed to write the tip to the receipt. This is very odd.

The food taste didn't mach the written menue

Maybe I had too high expectations on the well written Tuscanian menu describing the 5-course dinner which was to made by a known Tuscanian chef. The three first courses were tasteless, the dry-aged beef loan stake was OK as well as the Mascarpone sweet. The waiter saved the evening.

Uninspired..

It all began well, but after a while it all began to feel a bit uninspired. The food (Menu Degustazione) with a wine package did not convince at all. I changed the gnocchis to Fettuccine with king prawns, chili, garlic and lobster butter, but this portion was a total flop, salt missing, chili missing and the pasta over cooked. No one offered me a compensation for this... The rest of the elements of my dinner also were something of a disappointment, and the service very much nonchalant. The staff did not look me in the eyes, but sort of just did the minimum with minimum inspiration. I will not visit them again.

Pleasant dinner

This restaurant is located at Klaus K Hotel. We had dinner while staying at the hotel. The interior is quite small and the tables are close to each other. Luckily, the restaurant was quite empty on arrival. We got a nice window table. For starters, we ordered tomato soups. They were lukewarm because of the thrown-in cold mozzarella. For the main course, my partner ordered a whole-roasted sole that was delicious. My venison pasta was okay but nothing spectacular. The pasta was a little bit overcooked for my taste. The wines were quite expensive. We ordered glasses of Italian Riesling and Chianti. For the bottle price of 56 euros, they were not so special. The best part of the dinner was the service. It was very friendly and attentive.

Food is terrible

This was a good restaurant.. unfortunately, not any more. The food we ate (especially chiken) and the drinks we had (e.g., no tomate juice for bloody mary) were average. Not recommended and won’t go back. We complained about the food - got -30% from chiken.. but whole disk was wasted (nothing to eat).

Rustic Italian

Very nice basic Italian food. True Italian flavors, good wine by the glass and friendly service. Can recommend the octopus and ravioli which both are excellent, and colleagues also recommend the risotto.

Could be better…

The service was haphazard and hurried. Some of the dishes were really tasty but others just bad. I’d say that risotto always seems to be a test, and Toscanini failed big time. Risotto was extremely overcooked, ridiculously so.

Disappointing

Disappointing. 5 years ago the food was great. I had high expectations again and went with friends. All of us were disappointed. Food was overly salty and the gnochi oddly spiced and looked like canned dog food. The dessert, wine and service was good, but not enough to save the dinner. Won’t be coming again…

Creative traditional Italian food in Helsinki - worth a visit.

I was staying in Helsinki in the Klaus K hotel, and I was tired of going outside, so I decided to give it a Try to the hotel restaurant. One of my favorite cuisines is Italian, so let's say that my expectations were high. I tried the "Menù degustazione" and it was delicious, starting with Carpaccio garnished with sweet potatoes and mustard mayonnaise, then was delicious homemade ravioli and overcooked lamb with puree, and for dessert a blueberry cake and blueberry sorbet... I found it quite original to make Italian food with typical ingredients from Finland. Marco the waiter was very friendly and since I don't drink, he suggested trying a Sparkling drink without alcohol a little sweet but ideal for the antipasti.

Enjoyable dining experience

Had a lovely meal here. It was the first time we felt welcomed into a restaurant in Helsinki. The staff were friendly and it was enjoyable having a chat with them and taking their recommendations for food and wine. The food was also tasty and the price not as high as others in the area.

Nice seating, good food

The restaurant is just outside the center. There was nice outside seating. Service is friendly and efficient. The menu has not that many choices, but you will find something with fish or meat to your taste. No pizza's, it is more sophisticated Italian cooking. We had the veal and fettuccine with shrimps. Both very tasty. Prices are a bit on the high side, but in keeling with the level of the restaurant, but wine is really expensive.

Good Italian vibe

We had a very taste meal in a bustling environment, booking ahead is essential. This is a hotel restaurant. We had a pork meat skewer with sauce and mushrooms and broccoli plus affugato (a new favourite for me) and chocolate mousse with cherries. The Lange Nebbiolo wine was excellent.
