Lonna’s restaurant and degaussing museum are open during the summer, serving our island guests from May until the end of September. The restaurant serves high-quality seasonal dishes with a modern take on traditional island cuisine. We strive to use mostly Finnish ingredients, favoring organic and locally grown produce. Our menu changes frequently during the season, depending on the availability of the best seasonal produce. Visit the restaurant to check out the menu of the day. There are always meat and fish dishes as well as vegetarian options on the menu, as well as desserts, of course. Naturally, we also cater to special dietary needs. Just let us know. Our carefully selected wines and other…
Restaurant Lonna is located just 10 minutes ferry ride outside Helsinki in a small charming & tranquil island. The restaurant Lonna is located in the middle of the island offering seating both indoors and at the terrace. Since this is very popular place table reservation...is highly recommended (we saw several groups turned away due to not having reservations and restaurant being full). We enjoyed the tasting menu at the terrace. Service was fairly smooth although the inexperience of staff brought continuously smiles to faces. The food was very good and wines paired well thought. The price-value was also good, so strongly recommended!More
This is the perfect place to end your explanation of the island fortress of Suomenlinna. The surroundings are quite nice, the food is some of the best local food I have ever had. They use premier local suppliers of fish, cheese and so on. The...food is made to perfection. Note that the 3 times I have been there the portions are quite big, so we have not had room for desert yet. What really sets this place apart,is the quality price ratio of the wines. I used to like the Savoy for top quality lical tastes, but their mark-up on wines is insane. I really suggest trying Lonna instead. IMPORTANT. The restrooms are located downstairs, and you will have to go outside to get there. Not so nice on a windy and rainy day.
My suggestion is to take the JT Line Island hopper boat from the market square every 30 minutes . If the weather is good explore first ValliSaari, and/or Suomenlinna. If not, just get a feel for the area from inside the biat, and have a great meal at Lonna.More
We had a state of the art lunch here. The starters the main dishes as well as the desserts were all near food with many new ingredients never tasted before. The service the setting an island was just fabulous. Having been in the hospitality business all...my life and travelled the world
I did not realize that just a short boat ride from my home there is a restaurant that can match any restaurants where ever they may be! Thank you for a great experience...will returnMore
Lonna is located on a small island with the same name. It can be reached with a boat, starting from Helsinki market place harbour. The island is very small historical gun powder storage, now converted to a restaurant and event location. It’s worth visiting by...itself, but eating in the restaurant is an experience one shouldn’t miss, while on the island. The menu is contemporary fine dining, but not too fine, to be enjoyed in holiday attire. In the summer time they have tables also outside, and you can enjoy the dinner while watching the beatiful scenery of Helsinki archipelago and boat traffic passing by. The food is excellent and well prepared and service is friendly and professional. During our visit the speed of service could have been a bit faster, so it’s recommended to reserve enough time and warm clothes, since the wind on the islands is always cooler than on the main land. Table reservation is also recommended since the restaurant is not that big and it’s very popular.More
Fifteen minute boat ride from Helsinki Market square you will find a cool but not too cool restaurant. They'll tell you where the ingredients come from, but in a manner not too eager. So, service is fine, and our dinner was great. Main course for...my partner: baby lamb. For me: pike perch. Both with seasons vegetables, really fresh. Lovely, robust Italian rose. Not for shoestring budget, but still worth the money and "trouble".More
High quality local / Finnish ingredients combined with fine dining. Nice selection of wines which you can choose from a shelf. Great service. You should book ahead as the restaurant is small and if you can’t get a table there is not that much to...do on the small island while waiting for the next boat. Hidden gem due to its location even though well known by local food lovers.More
