As mentioned in the title - the whole experience feels a bit overpriced and it fails guest service. We started with an aperitive cocktail, that was served in a tiny glass with some ice, which we expected more from for € 13,-. While we were...still drinking the aperitive, the waiter arrived at our table to serve the first glass of wine of our wine pairing with the 4 course menu. When we mentioned we hadn’t finished our aperitive and would like to wait with the first wine - he mentioned “I would prefer to serve the wine already, as it doesn’t matter for the wine and I want you to have your wine before we serve the first course…” OK - so we accepted. Again after our first course and we were still drinking our first wine he came again to serve the 2nd wine and when we asked him to wait until we finished that - he made the same comment and only when we said we are the guests and when we do not want our wine to be served yet and told him to tell the kitchen they should wait serving the 2nd course - he accepted and went away. It really felt crazy to have to tell this to a waiter in a restaurant where you would accept a better service. Also - very strange - our 1st course was meat with red wine, 2nd course was meat with red wine, 3rd course was fish with white wine…it might be the Finnish cuisine, but during my education at the Hotelschool I always learned not to serve white wine after red wine… 🤔 Anyway - the food was great - very nice taste, original flavors and nicely dressed on the plate. Wine pairing was ok too, but it is a pitty that all wines that were served came from the restaurants own vineyard - it would have been nice to drink other vineyards wine too.More

The food was okay, but nothing I would recommend or want to eat again. Since the restaurant has high reviews and it is expensive I expected a lot more. The main course with white fish and some pasta made no sense. And the whole menu...was in general ”a mess”. Nothing really fit together. The service was very good.More

This restaurant features a "surprise menu". This is a two-bladed sword: You don't tell the customer what you will serve; he feels like an hostage at the mercy of your culinary vagrancy. And yet, the 5-courses (vegetarian) surprise I had the chance to take was...an immersion into a world of pure culinary delight. Pure because the taste of raw ingredients is profoundly respected and conveyed impeccably . And delight, because the choice of taste associations (poached pear, cream with Taleggio cheese, roasted nuts ) matches the excellency of execution. Enough gibberish: try this restaurant before it gets unaffordable distinctions. Then you might not agree. Until you taste the nut-butter (beurre noisette) cream with Fleur de Sel.More

Excellent food, ate a 5 course menu. Everything was wonderful, including the wine they had chosen for the food. Very pleasant service.

From a foodie point of view, a five-star rating is the only choice. The food is excellent and the wine pairing is very well chosen. I find it necessary to subtract a star, however, because of the fact that the unsuspecting visitor is coerced into...taking a whole menu of at least three and up to five courses. You cannot get à la carte here. Add to that the exorbitant prices for the wines, so that a visit here will set you back for a minimum of 100€ per person. Another star is lost because in spite of the already stellar pricing the staff — I strongly suspect this is not by accident — ends up charging the customer even more for the wines in the final bill than was advertised on the menu. Take my word for it when I say, as a sommelier, those four glasses of wine were good but NOT worth 12€ per glass.More

Work related visit, about 50 participants. We enjoyed 6 -course menu, absolutely great from start to finish. Staff was professional. It took some time, 3,5 hours, but it was worth it. Different kind of breads for start the feast, little seafood, meat, soup, meat again,...some cheeses and finally dessert. You could also pick a package of drinks, suitable for every course separately. By far the best whole for a long time. Prices were affordable and considering what you get, you get a really good value for money. Highly recommend to visit this restaurant.More

Quite a nice visit to Ragu. A couple of small details that bothered me though. At the start we got a feeling that they prefer that we order their surprise menu, it was more or less the only thing offered even if they have other...options too. The food was tasty but the portions could be a bit bigger. All in all a nice experience though.More

Came here with colleagues as a business dinner. I have quite a few dietary limitations and I cannot emphasise enough how accommodating and attentive staff were. Their selection of non-alcoholic drinks was larger than I’ve ever experienced elsewhere and the food was to die for!...I especial suggest their roasted cauliflower soup, that’s something I won’t forget anytime soon. I felt very welcome by staff, despite being a huge burden with all these food limitations. I absolutely recommend visiting Ragu! Thanks for the wonderful experience guys!More

Hmmm... slow dining with mayonnaise it's not what an Italian resotorant would cherish. It is unfortunate that while presenting the main dish the waiter doesn't recognize a difference between artichoke and broccoli, this is unacceptable. Some food was good but the presentation was averaged with...way too much mayonnaise. Atmosphere was nice, obviously very popular place,no singe table free. The star of the evening was a Rainoldi vino Inferno reserva. Oveall, there are much better restaurants in Helsinki, better service and way better food.More

Busy restaurant, informal, although labeled “Italian” by some, not Italian at all ( my wife is Italian, so she should know) apart from the choice of wines. Original dishes, but very slow service. Quite a lot of noise. Friendly waitress. Nice wines. Paid 100 euro...a person.More

A superb fine dining experience ! Last night my wife and I enjoyed a wonderful meal , wonderful wine pairing and wonderful attentive and professional service at Ragu restaurant. We had preordered the Vegan 5 course tasting menu and decided to opt also for the...wine pairing to accompany our meal. It was a delightful experience from start to finish and we would definitely recommend Ragu to our friends and to those looking for fine dining Vegan cuisine in Helsinki. The restaurant is easy to find and is a well established and well known eatery by many. We booked a 5pm early table and were impressed to see the restaurant fill up very quickly, creating a lovely atmosphere. The service was superb and very attentive and knowledgeable about the dishes and wines being served this allowed us to fully relax and just enjoy a great evening out and savor the food, drink and atmosphere all the more. The dishes were well thought out and presented. The soup and the main course were particularly nice and ticked all our boxes for flavor and appearance. The wine pairing was an excellent choice too. The dessert wine and the dessert dish itself were on a next level and we could have easily indulged in much more of them both. Needless to say at the end of 5 courses and 5 different wines plus a glass of bubbly to begin with we left Ragu after two and half hours a lot fuller and a lot merrier than when we had arrived. It is extremely good value for money and there were several long tables with family get togethers or work do's being hosted there. We are now looking forward to our next visit in the Spring. A big thank you to all the staff in Ragu both front of house and the back of house chef's for making the evening so wonderful and enjoyable.More

Hi, they'll change the menu every quarter and the surprise menu can be taken with 3-4-5 courses.
