Ordered takeaway here twice. Halloumi Burger meal and the Halloumi Salad. Definitely recommend the Halloumi salad even though both are quite expensive.

Went to eat lunch here today straight from the airport, with baggage in tow. The food was amazing!! Would definitely recommend the meatballs!! Only two vegetarian options at the time, vegetarian burger which was delicious, and vegetarian meatballs, which if they're anywhere near the standard...of the meat meatballs, they'll be enjoyable too! Our host was so gracious in answering our questions and was very friendly! Would definitely recommend eating here! (FYI the large chips are very large!)More
I feel like this restaurant is a bit of a holdover from Russian times. The service was lovely, but severely understaffed, and the food was, well, ick. Massive quantities make up for mediocre food for some people, and if you’re one of those people, by...all means, go here, because the servers seemed really nice. The table of Germans next to me was thrilled with their food. For me, no. Sweet salad dressing, mashed potatoes that had been put in a food processor instead of properly mashed and were thus gummy and tasteless, served with boiled beets and mushy pickled cucumbers, just no.More
We had a very delicious meal - filet made of reindeer. So tasteful, and for a reasonable price. The atmosphere was cozy and the service great.
I have eaten steak here 3 times now and it is EXCELLENT! We even had a team (work)event dinner here with a bigger group (10). I had rapuleipä as first course which was good but considering my eating capacity may or may not have been...a mistake As main course I had 200g GRILLIPIHVI, nicely medium rare. And since I had the same last time I can confirm that the deliciousness was on the same high level. The crisp potato wedges and garlic butter go really well with the steak. And you know the feeling when you are so full but then they bring the menu back... yeah, I tried to be reasonable but ended up sharing KANNAKSEN LETUT. Nice and crisp 4 crepes with ice cream and strawberry jam. I am sure I will return for another steak soon. Kiitos! PS. I am always happy when I find a restaurant where I can go back and get a good steak. It is harder than you would think... And this place is close to Tallink ferry terminal, so if you are looking for a place to eat ;)More
Really good food here. Ordered the Salmon and vegetables. Salmon was cooked perfectly, crispy skin and perfect vegetables. Highly recommended. Quit service on a Friday night as well. We booked a table the previous day.
I went here to try reindeer steak for the first time ever, it was delicious and melted in my mouth! The restaurant atmosphere was very relaxing and it felt more like a place locals frequent, however the staff was very friendly and service was quick...even when they we're packed with a large party along with the normal flow of customers. Our server was happy to give recommendations on the menu items and we thoroughly enjoyed our entire meal. I will come again if I get the chance to return to Helsinki in the future!More
We had a reservation for a group of 15. They required us to order from their "group menu." It was an hour and 10 minutes between being seated and receiving the food. I ordered the "pepper steak" which in the US is not so spicy...you can barely stand the pain. We were worn out after the trip, so two to asked that their Caesar salad could be taken out. Nope. They got served with the rest of us. The seats had inadequate cushions and our backsides were hurting before we got any food. Some thought their food was very good, but overall it was a miserable experience. The waitress said, "we are a little big busy to night." We learned that of the kitchen staff had not shown up. Management is important too.More
We booked based on previous reviews that mentioned return visits - always a good sign. The restaurant has a friendly, relaxed atmosphere and the staff were attentive and helpful. We shared a seafood plate to start - more than enough to share, especially as the...mains are very generous. The herrings and smoked salmon were delicious, accompanied by home baked bread. Our mains of meatballs and liver were well cooked and tasty. No room for dessert, but my request for a liquor coffee was accommodated and one of the best I have had. This isn't fine dining, it is good honest cooking supported by excellent staff who were attentive without being intrusive, and despite the place being busy had time to talk and advise on our choices.More
Speaking of the traditional Finnish dishes, they were really good! Cozy atmosphere and food as good as at your finnish grandma's. For example the salmon soup and liver are superb. I'd skip the burgers, because the traditional portions were very tasty.
While on our trip staying at a closeby hotel, we stopped here and enjoyed some very tasty food, and very generous portions at a decent price. Steak was cooked perfectly, the house salad was surprisingly nice, with moist chicken. And we couldn’t help splitting a...portion of the delicious meatballs - we would have gladly licked the plate clean!More
We had such a great experience when visiting Kannas, despite the Covid restrictions. Would definitely recommend! Food: Great selection of Finnish dishes, everything we tried (Meatballs, Herring and Kanna’s pan) was perfectly cooked and seasoned! If you want to try traditional Finnish food, Kannas is...definitely the place to go! Good portions sizes and very affordable for Helsinki. Service: As good as the food was, service is the reason why I’m leaving this review. We had booked a table at 16:30 and from the moment we stepped foot inside, we felt welcomed and well informed what was going on with the new restrictions (ie. restaurants must close by 20 and alcohol cannot be served after 17). The lady who was working alone front of house was working flat out making sure no one missed out on ordering drinks with their food before the cut-off. I cannot really praise her enough, she was friendly, attentive, informative, funny, kind — she made our day! Unfortunately I forgot to ask her name, but she had dark hair and glasses :)More
We had dinner here twice in four days. First time because of the close distance from our hotel, the second because of the very good experiece we had. Simple food but super genuine. The staff is very friendly, the place is clean, the ratio quality/price...absolutely correct. I’d certainly suggest this restaurant to anyone visiting Helsinki…as long as you’re looking for nice simple food.More
We had grilled steak and grilled salmon, both accompanied with vegetable and potatoes. The meat and fish were to the point and the vegatable freshly cooked. Food and beer were really nice. We'd love to come back.
Service was good and polite, and the dishes we had were excellent. The athmosphere In the restaurant is classic and not too fancy. No wonder itse been going on sinne 1939 !
