Very nice location and delicious gelato. I bet all food is very tasty. Only negative was that the person selling wasn’t wearing a mask, even when scooping ice-cream or when talking to customers. Not the greatest look whilst a pandemic.
We had read about thus place on the Internet. We were staying at the Helsten Helsinki Senate Apartments without a breakfast option, and it was within 5 min walking distance. We were there when Vicenze opened at 8:15. His panini with proschiutto and cheese were...fresh and delicious, the cafe americana hit the spot, and the ambiance was relaxing. Great way to start the day!More
Once I stepped into this café, I felt I was in a coffee shop in Northern Italy, and it’s not an exaggeration. The interior took my thoughts there. In my opinion, it’s the most atmospheric café in town. I can’t tell you much about the...quality of coffee, since I’m not a specialist, but I can safely say it was a unique experience.
The only disadvantage is that the prices are Finnish, not Italian, but this is just something you have to accept.More
After a long hot day seeing the Helsinki sights, my friend and I stumbled upon the nicest little cafe spot in Tove Jansson's park on the way back to our Hostel. Troy was a fantastic server and made us feel so welcome even though they...were about to close. We had a delicious Italian style panini and a couple of refreshing beers. Worth a drop in.More
We don't like Starbucks coffee. We think it's over roasted. We find Finnish restaurant house coffee terrible! We didn't have food at Signora Delizia. We only ordered coffees. We were hoping to find full bodied, mellow, delicious Italian coffee. My husband and I love Italian...style coffees. We were disappointed.
Unfortunately the cappuccino I ordered and the espresso my husband ordered were way too bitter. There is some intrinsic bitterness in coffee. The bitterness of coffee at Signora Delizia was all I could taste. There were no flavor notes underneath.
My husband, who is a coffee connoisseur, stated he heard no coffee grinder and the espresso machine was automatic. The artistry just wasn't in the brew, at Signora Delizia.
In truth, we are Americans, and have never been to Italy. However, my husband does know what true Italian style coffee should taste like. While on a business trip in Chicago, he was taken to a coffee shop run by Italian immigrants. The machines were all manual pulls from the old country. The master barista was in his eighties and had been brewing coffee his entire career. The middle aged baristas, who had been brewing coffee for decades, were still in training. The coffee shop was a pillar of neighborhood community, not a grab and go establishment. He told me it was a sublime experience! This was years ago and it set the bar for his coffee. My husband is very picky about his coffee.
The young, Finnish woman, who brewed our coffee, I don't think had a clue how to make a craft cup of coffee.
As customer service, she was excellent. She was very kind and gracious. She even chased us into the street to return my rain coat, which I had forgotten at the restaurant.
Better coffees (though not excellent) we had in Helsinki:
DesignCafe - ironically run by a southeast Asian immigrant family
Great coffee in other cities -
Bean Bar, in Turku, layers slight bitterness of coffee drink ingredients in a masterful way. I had their mocha and the interplay of types of bitterness (coffee versus chocolate) was delicious!
Inadba, in Spokane WA USA, takes unusual ingredients and makes seasonal lattes. Inadaba is the only coffee shop in the WA State my husband will have a double espresso.More
Signora Delizia is best Café in Helsinki! Cappucino tastes great and coffeehouse is very atmospheric. I can feel the good vibes and positive energy there! <3 Customer service is great and Rocky-dog is awesome, I think my daughers highlight of a day is, when she...can give a kisses for Rocky! :)
Highly recommed this place, people and coffee! Btw, chocolate muffins tastes heavenly good!More
