We were looking to mingle with the locals on our last night in Scandinavia. Awesome place, great view, loved it.

Times are changing! Next to this outdoor cafe, located on the southernmost tip of Helsinki, is the place where people used to wash their carpets in the sea. Hence the name ”Mattolaituri” (the carpet dock, or carpet landing). I have visited this spot already in...the 1980-ties, when Helsinki and all of Finland was a different place alltogether.... Today you only occasionally see people washing their carpets in the eutrophied sea, and instead tourists and nouveau riche Finns sit here sipping champagne and fancy coffee. The staff appears to be nice, the coffee was decent and the view is still stunning, This is a good place to watch people and to enjoy the view. N.B. The cafe is most likely closed in the winter, but again, you should never come to Helsinki in the winter!More

Nice for drinks if the weather is good. The place is right by the sea, so it’s nice to have a drink and watch boats passing by.

It's ok, especially when the weather is nice. Location is great and atmosphere as well as the staff who is friendly but crowded and very standard.

Hi, just wrote a review on Café Ursula, but it was meant to be on this place situated 5 minutes away, same road, in a better location, full sun and less crowded. A bit more expensive than Ursula, but fantastic views and more modern surroundings....Food and coffee was excellent, but a great place to relax with a sparkling wine and watch the world go by. Beware seagulls though, as they went for at least two other diners food. Great entertainment if its not your food.More

This is a nice bar/cafe with a nice view to the sea. Good thursday and friday afterwork offer on rose wine and sol beer.

On a hot sunny day all kinds of boats pass by this cafe next to the real Mattolaituri, a wooden deck to wash your carpets in seawater. This favourite Finnish summer passtime is still very much practised as you can see from the wet carpets...hung to dry on wooden racks. The restaurant has a a bit show off touristy feel to it as people walk in front of it along the lane by the water. The quiche with feta and asparagus was mushy, some of the deck chairs were broken, this terrace is mainly for drinking alcohol when these kind of things don't bother.More

Waiter served 7 customers then to inform ”we have just one queue” and left just before us...annoying

During a sunny day sit here for a while and have a coffee or glas of champagne embrace the moment , the view the people and you will never forget this moment.

I have always liked the place and service in Matto laituri, location and style could not be better. Today I had to witness that none of the 5-6 people behind the counter were not willing to help two elderly ladies moving with walkers to get...their coffees to their tables. Result was spilled coffees and a mess. I felt sorry for the ladies and became angry at the young waitresses behaviour. With The prices, please take the extra steps!More

Recommended to this place by my host as I stayed nearby. Great for watching the world go by over some food/snack/wine. As I was hungry, I ordered their BBQ pork ribs. Generous portion and fulfilling. But the best of this place gotta to be the...view. So do visit only when weather is good.More

Right, it is located in one of the most beautiful places by the sea but 10 euros (9€90...) for 12cl (yes, 12 centilitres = equivalent to more than 60€ per 0.75 l bottle) of white wine and without service to table that's a bit exaggerated....If it would be a great wine, ok but that was not the case.More
