Great 8-course dinner with lots of variety and greatly composed. Service was really attentive and atmosphere cosy. One of the best in Finland and it is a crime Spis does not have a star.

Food and presentation were so amazing I’m starting to worry I won’t get such wonderful food again in months! The flavours were so unique you can really feel the preparation and creativity that were behind it. The service was so attentive but natural that made...us feel really comfortable and well taken care of. Thank you for such a great dining experience.More
Amazing food and ambiance. The owners prepared and served all the food with excellent attention to detail. We ate at 30 restaurants during our month in Europe and this was the highlight for and service.
Absolutely one of the best meals I have had in years. Everything was so beautiful and creative; combinations of flavors and textures that one does not usually experience. Genius! The service and wine options were also fantastic! I am hoping that I will have another...opportunity to travel through Helsinki as it is truly a food city, and Spis being one of its stars!More
Fantastic creative food! Looks and tastes are all in line with great personal service! Can only recommend this place! Wow 🤩
Outstanding 8 course tasting menu with spectacularly paired wines. Unpretentious, friendly, professional and very welcoming staff. Every course was excellent and the sauces and broths deserve a special mention. As does the pairing of Sake with artichokes, inspired!
We had an exceptional meal at Spis. Superbly presented; deliciously prepared and extraordinarily crafted. We applaud the chefs and the wait staff. Bravo. You will be very happy to dine here. Beautiful young people populated the restaurant. Obviously an excellent date-night venue. It is $$$$...but worth it.More
This restaurant is amazing. How it does not have a Michelin star is beyond me. The food is absolutely gorgeous and amazing, the wine pairings are perfect, and the service is friendly and ridiculously attentive. This is one of the best restaurants I have ever...eaten at, up there with de Silveren Spiegel in Amsterdam and Agrikultur in Stockholm. Highly, highly recommended.More
I don’t remember exactly what we ate (writing this a couple of months after our visit), but it was all very good and obviously made with care. We loved the extensive use of vegetables in the tasting menu. Overall a very nice evening and I...don’t hesitate to recommend Spis. Helsinki has plenty of nice restaurants, but only some of them leave you with the desire to return. Spis is one of those. I would eat here every week if I could afford it 😊More
This was my second dinner @spis, six years after my first visit at the restaurant, and it was again an exceptional experience. Great atmosphere, a true sense for hospitality, perfectly matching wines but above all a dozen of short trips (i.e. courses) through regional Scandinavian...ingredients and real kitchen magic. Will definitely come back, when next time in HEL.More
Small gourmet restaurant in a quiet backstreet in central Helsinki. With less than 20 seats, it’s a very personal place serving modern Nordic cuisine in one set 12 course menu. Great experience all around at a reasonable price for the quality you get, highly recommended!...Count on at least 2.5 h to enjoy it at the right pace.More
Eight dishes ++, four matching wise, three different bread, lots of wonderful tastes. Food excellent presented, very good service. I would like to come back.
Great place. We came with our four year old (gulp!) and it was accomodating and friendly. She had an adapted version of the full menu (but with all 3 dessert courses) for a fair low price, and there was some chat amongst the tables present...as well. The food itself is well thought and seasonal. Being May we had quite a few preserves and salted / cured foods. Definitely the best radish I've ever tasted. Deer tartar with just a few lingonberries was great. Rhubarb and berries featured profusely across dishes, giving hints of tang and freshness. Salt cod was delicate and puffy and the different sauces and broths were rich. Different shoots, roots and flowers were interesting and not overdone. Oh, the breads served with the food were remarkable too. I saw a negative review saying that the food was average. Definitely nothing on the menu seemed average to me or if so, I'd love to know where the diner goes, I'd book there next! 🤣 Cheap it isn't, though, but the food seems fairly priced for the ingredients and effort that goes into it.More
We tried out the tasting menu on a Saturday with no big expectations or biased opinions. Overall it was good but for the price, we feel that it wasn't fully delivering. There were many courses and lots of different interesting dishes served. Some absolutely delicious...and beautiful while others maybe a bit dull/uninspiring. The ingredients were pretty much Nordic/Finnish and it was clear that all dishes had required lots of preparation with time. Some flavours stood out very well but sometimes they were very subtle and thus not very engaging. The service was run by a waiter and a chef and was efficient and okay. The latter meaning that it was not very memorable but rather "getting the job done" compared to other fine dining spots, where the waiter can have such a key role to make the evening memorable. No wine list to review and compare but rather having to pick out something based on a verbal introduction was also not very good (at least if you love to browse and think of what or which wines you want to try, if not going with a predefined package). This menu would probably offer an even more memorable experience for foreign visitors with all the local flavours and with some improvements (for example to the service and customer interaction), it would be a very good visit. Overall, many good dishes and a cozy atmosphere.More
My husband and I visited here last night (March 5th ‘22) and can’t say enough good things about it. The food was fantastic. So carefully and lovingly prepared. The two chefs and the fantastic waitress/hostess showed such enthusiasm for food, Finnish produce, sustainably sourced ingredients...and immaculate presentation. They take such pride in what they do, and they should! It is fantastic. We went for the tasting menu, which we found to be great value for the amount of courses served, and the quality of each course. Each plate was described in detail, even down to how to eat the more elaborate offerings! No question was too basic to ask, adding to the wonderfully relaxed atmosphere. This place should have a Michelin star, the food and service are comparable to any Michelin restaurants I’ve enjoyed. Very best of luck to the team at Spis for a star soon!More
