I have never experienced such terrible customer service in my entire life. The owner, elderly lady, was extremely impolite and rude, and refused to give us extra milk for our coffee - even though we offered to pay extra. On our way out the other customer told us the lady is always like that, utterly without any manners, and when looking at the terrible reviews in the net, it is surprising this overpriced and vile place is still running.

Sad experince

When entering the place, two adults & two children, we made a mistake by asking if one of the two children could go to the loo at first. This was not possible as we should make the order at first....The service by a rude lady was horrible and everything was totally overpriced. What a terrible and sad experience. This place with such a great location and cozy atmosphere could be wonderful, but it must have a reputation as we didn’t see many clients either.

Horrendous experience from start to finish! The fact that the old lady runs her business by herself does not justify the way she treats her clients!!! We arrived with the idea of having coffee & breakfast. Firstly, she sold my partner a coffee with milk that expired 1 week prior, he had to inform her to serve him proper milk. She charged him €16 as it’s a “coffee buffet” Then, she informed him that she has 30 cameras and she was “watching us” so if I were to “take a sip” from his coffee she will come and kick us out as this should not be shared. The pie then arrived and tasted of absolutely nothing, so we ate half just to be nice and returned the rest. On that she started raging and told him to get out!!! Moral of the story, DO NOT ENTER !!! The visuals are not worth the trauma!!

Lovely villa, amazing cakes

I think this place is not for people who are used to go to Starbucks nor ones who are too thin skinned. Here you will meet charming old Lady whose personality brings me some memories from the past Soviet times. Pastries, tea and coffee are tasty. The Lady of the house bakes all by herself and keeps up very large selection of cakes. Maybe prices are high for someone, but this is not a mass volume production place, this place is experience.

Don’t blindly trust TripAdvisor

Don’t let the previous ratings let you down. This lovely cafe has been run by the owner, now a lady of age for forty years and last years alone, every day in the year from early morning to late night. Every day baking good cakes. Try a perfect borscht soup or a huge apple cake! Not always a Hollywood smile? Well, try to smile yourself and you will be served. It’s a very hard business, the Café and restaurant business in Finland.

The Best Cafe in Helsinki!

This is absolutely the most authentic Cafe in Helsinki. This amazing Madam has had these cafes for over 30 years. Atmosphere is very cozy, private and there is endlesly things to see. Everything there is selfmade. Large selection of cakes, some salty snacks and very delishious Polis beetroot soup. This Cafe also has many alcohol drinks from Beer to Wine and Champagne and exellect house ice-creams. The garden is very beautiful, full of flowers and by the sea. No doubt it's the best and most interesting Cafe in Helsinki. The most funny part are the reviews of this place. The owner of the Cafe runs its by herself alone and she is over 70. She is so fed up with complaiment and free toilet users and unhappy people - that she just ask them to leave her Cafe. Quite many people seemed to got upset by her personality and cut off style or speaking. She still actually maintains high quality and her cinnamon buns are very traditional, tasty and big. Its also one of the rare Cafe's in Helsinki with a carden by the beach. Located in Tamminiemi / Seurasaari area. Five stars for this experience. This is a happy place and should not be missed!

I don’t feel given even one star. Very worst service. If you want to make your day and night worst by the Russian or polish owner or waiter then plz visit otherwise avoid.

Don't visit - too expensive and bad service

The owner (I guess she is the owner) is an old and unpleasent lady. She probably hates people. Her attitude towards customers is rude and disturbing. Prices are too high even for Finland. Nothing tasty. If you like to be scolded, eat bad food and pay a lot, this is the right place. Otherwise don't visit. I know the house looks interesting but believe me it is not worth it. Let's leave her alone with her own misery.

Overpriced, cold coffee, disgusting pie and rude service. Outside the cafeteria is very nice, and we’ve had somenice pastries there before. Now the Lady keeping the place is obviously too old to be interested to keep up the standards. What’s not to hate?

We were blown away by the uniqueness of this place, one of the most special cafeterias to visit in Helsinki. The house has a very old historic spirit to it. The owner makes all the cakes and pies herself and was very lovely to us.

Beautiful exterior, ugliest interior

The lady practically kicked us out after we just entered and said that we were just looking around/checking the options. She also commanded not to take photos after she saw me with my phone trying to photograph the decor, because “she didn’t feel like it”. Absolute joke

I do not recommend this!

Pretty and idyllic environment but the yard was untidy and the house looks like a hoarders nest. And smells like it too! The prices are a ripoff. A cup of ole coffee was 5 euros. Did not even dare to touch the pastries.

Just awful

Your experience here will depend on what leg madame the owner happened to get up on that day. She doesn't give a rat's tail whether you like her not, so anything may happen depending on her mood. Her cakes and pies are good but overpriced, her ego larger than the villa itself. You pays your money and youse takes your chance. I no longer bother, but the five star raves here got lucky on a good day - or are paid bribes. You mightn't be so lucky.

Garden cafe with a location

The most excentric cafe in Helsinki. Place is hauntingly charming with vast selection of cakes, coffee and teas. This is an attraction on it's own right. Place has bohemian late 1800's feeling with antique furniture and china. There's a charming Chekov style garden where you can relax with you cuppa and cakes.

Please do not believe only negative stories. This cafe is absolutely worth of visit. Cakes etc. are very good. Little bit pricey but try them.
