Straight average sushi, puts cream cheese on everything which is disgusting. I had mine without. Tuna tartar was very good and the drink I had (three of) Passion Mule was good. 2 for sushi, but extra points for tartar and drinks.
I have never liked fish or sushi. But i was here i January 2020 because my boyfriend booked a table for my birthday. The food was excellent and I actually enjoyed the sushi. Good wine choices and great service!
They don't have the most diverse menus but that allows them to master the dishes that they do have. Every piece of sushi was hand curated before reaching my plate. The crispy fried sides of each roll was perfect. The dumplings were consistent and cooked...through, didn't taste like cheap frozen dumplings.
Drinks menu not the most diverse either but again, I ordered the Smokey old fashioned and it was one of the best I've had in my life.More
Visited after 4pm. (Sushi buffet ends 2pm). Sashimi was very fresh and nicely served. Sushi rice was as it should be. I would visit again. Could try their buffet too.
Service was polite and friendly. The space was conveniently divided in compartments, which creates a...feeling of intimacy.More
We visited this place few times over the last three years and we had never been disappointed. The venue is crowded on weekends but tables are nicely separated.
They offer good selection of dishes and certainly the sushi pieces as an entrée were just fantastic...provided to us a pleasant appetite. We had eaten sushi elsewhere in the past, but Tokyo55 has really a wonderfull tasty sushi better than in many other restaurants. The sushi's rice is not cold and it is just about the right temperature, sticky that it doesn’t fall apart when we bring it to our mouth, yet it separate into individual particles once we put it in our mouth, simply perfect and delicious. They used to serve foie gras Maki but it is not on the menu any more, however, they have Tempura Maki (Tokyo) very tasty indeed, highly recommended.
Main Course of Beef teriyaki and Veal cheek were both tasteful dishes.
For dessert, I enjoyed myself a wonderful light yet rich in flavour pudding of chia seed, mango and passion fruit mix served with sorbet. I loved it.
Restaurant staff were all polite, friendly and attentive, big thanks to all of them and special thanks to the chef for such a wonderful food. We will be back for sure in the future.More
Absolutely delicious food served in nice japanese style atmosphere. Serving was friendly and pretty fast. Food was really good and carefully done. Portion though were tiny even by japanese benchmark. Serves in lunch time and opens again for dinner on weekdays. Saturdays only lunch and...Sundays mostly closedMore
We picked the 7-course menu and were heavily disappointed. The sushi was mediocre (and far too big to eat in one bite which is the point of sushi), the cod was too salty and cauliflower too sweet. The lamb (a huge chunk of meat) was...difficult to eat and didn’t taste that nice either. I was forced to leave the whole dish untouched. I was prepared to tell them what had been wrong with the food but when the server came to pick off our plates she didn’t ask anything but just left without saying a word. I find that pretty strange considering that she could easily see a guest obviously had not eaten what they had served and she just chose to ignore that like it’s completely normal (or maybe for this restaurant it is, who knows). The same server brought us our desserts and told us it was thyme pannacotta. And that was it. No description of any of the other elements on the plate. They didn’t leave the menu on the table either so we had no idea what we ate.
I’never been to a Japanese style restaurant this awful.More
We had an excellent dinner here! The staff was polite, service was super fast (a huge selection of sushi for 5ppl took only 20min to make) and the venue is cozy. As a foodie, the sushi was truly delicious, one of the best in Helsinki...if not best I’ve had!! Warmly recommend!More

Hello Khanh! An article from the national daily's food section (Helsingin Sanomat - Nyt - Ruoka 12.3.2015) tells about their sushi school, also the restaurant's website say [in Finnish, see if u can read with a translator..], that the two sushi teachers aka. chefs are Japanese, and trained sushi cooks ("masters").
N.B. most sushi joints in Helsinki are run by Chinese & Thai entrepreneurs, with few lucky tastier exceptions..
