There are many types of Chinese foods in India; perhaps the most famous kind is the food born out the Chinese diaspora settlement in the late 19th century in Tangra , Kolkata... the cuisine evolved from the amalgamation of Cantonese and Indian flavors: dishes like...Chilly chicken, Prawn Manchurian and mixed fried rice were born and have become a regular in the Indo Chinese menus!! The cuisine is hugely popular and fingering lickingly tasty... As Bengalis/Indians have travelled far and wide, so has the‘ Tangra Chinese Cuisine’ ... The Mainland China group of restaurants has hugely popularised this cuisine in Bangalore Mumbai , Delhi and while Dubai, Singapore and New York have their own version of Tangra Chinese restuarants ... Ravintola Moksha is running a food festival under the banner of Tangra Chinese... As an aficionado of Tangra food I had to check it out.... The food was anything but Chinese and far far away from the ‘Tangra Chinese’: Barely edible , every item in the menu had a chicken and a vegetarian version Chilly Chicken / Chilly Gobi, garlic chicken/ garlic vegetables... made from the same base of tomato/garlic sauce indistinguishable in looks, taste and flavour... Asinine menu planning aside, the food lacked semblance of originality. I have rarely seen such a pathetic and bastardized presentation of Chinese food. When I asked about the chef: the owner blithely said our chef has been round the world Dubai, Germany etc... he may well have been; but sir the place whose cuisine he professes to present, I bet he has not been in a 100 miles radius of Tangra ... Luckily for Moksha the Tangra Food lover’s community is tolerant and not given to issuing fatwas, for the Blasphemy committed by Moksha, calls for one.More

When the restaurant opened, I was thrilled by the good quality of the lunch with two constantly changing chicken options (mild and hot) as well as lamb option, which was usually really good and the naan bread was delicious. I started eating lunch there once...or twice a week (every day I worked from home), and it soon became my favourite place to eat in Lassila area. But they quickly ruined it all in just a few months. Nowadays, the lunch buffet consists of one mild chicken option that always tastes the same, and is not really that good as it is just dripping fat. The hot chicken is gone, and the lamb is a very rare sight, being replaced by lamb ground meat, pork or beef options, that are tasteless and bad. After that the naan bread was gone, replaced by some other warm bread that is just hideous. I have been still eating there many times as it was great, but I really should stop going there as it is always bigger and bigger of a disappointment. They also stopped putting the menu on the internet, so you never know what there will be. I don't know how the dinner is. I tried it once when they opened, and it was great, but the prices were too high so I have not returned for the dinner.More

The restaurant is located in an easily accessible area, has a very nice ambiance with traditional Indian decor and friendly staff. The food was tasty and made with fresh ingredients. The paneer (cottage cheese) was very fresh. Reasonably priced. Can accommodate many people. Definitely recommended.

We found restaurant Moksha by accident. Located in Lassila (100m away from Pohjois-Haaga train station), this little gem doesn't look much from the outside. But if you decide to come in, and make abstraction of the minimalist interior deco, you will taste what is probably...the best indian cuisine in town. The food, mainly from northern/north-west India (Punjab/Kashmir), is as tradtional and authentic as the one to be found in India - seriously! The many dishes we tested/tasted are packed with incredible flavors. Flavors we've never exprerienced at this level of perfection in any of the other curry houses we've been before. Everything is made from scratch on order, nothing is pre-cooked (no micro bing sound - e.g. the chicken is fresh - not frozen, the spices are roasted and grinded at the last moment). Coupled with an utterly professional and super friendly service, the global experience is as good as it gets. This restaurant is at an entirely different level altogether. If like us, you're serious about your curry, you owe yourself to pay a visit to Moksha, and enjoy the real indian deal. SEN-SA-TIO-NAL.More
