27€ ribs was a small portion of presumably microwaved slightly warm discgrace of ribs. Took like 30min to come also.
Burgers fries and the meat in burger were quite tasty, but you’re able to find better for less than half of their 25€.
Only why...I’d suggest is the terrace on sunny dayMore
Hampton Bay is in a great location and the building with its terrace is a joy to visit. On sunny summer days the restaurant is very busy, which is easy to understand due to the location. However service is slow, the drinks are expensive and...the food, while acceptably presented, is grossly overpriced for the quality. A Surf and Turf should be much tastier and of higher quality for 35€, not to mention that our serving missed out on the Surf part altogether: we then asked why the portion was not as advertized in the menu, whereupon prawns were brought in a separate bowl afterwards, by which time the main course was already cold. While the service was at all times kind and polite, it was really slow and mistakes were repeatedly made, for example our drink order was messed up - twice. We felt fooled and robbed.More
+ Food average
+ Friendly service
+ Nice terrace
- Extremely slow kitchen (while most tables empty)
- Bad price / quality
- Some dishes served cold probably due to the slow kitchen
Our last visit here.
Hampton Bay stands by its name. We really enjoyed the atmosphere by the sea, you can feel hint of marine in the interior decoration and the music choice is spot on. The service was very relaxed and friendly but if you are type that does...not feel comfortable when the waitress acts as if she had known you before, you might feel the service too “personal”. However, we liked it a lot.
We both had salmon soup as appetizer, but the portion is large enough as a main meal too. Probably the best salmon soup in helsinki. Salmon was in large pieces, new baby potatoes just right cooked (not too mushy or hard), and the creamy broth not too heavy. The prawn salad was extremely fresh and there was enough prawns to satisfy this woman’s huge appetite 😊 Surf n turf sirloin was cooked medium + and the meat was excellent quality and tender. The side dish of new baby potatoes roasted with garlic was very nice and healthier choice for the normal French fries often served with surf n turf. The bearnaise sauce was thick and creamy, and there was enough of it - not just one spoonful you often get in high quality restaurants like this.
Dessert cherry tiramisu was delightfully gluten-free and it certainly lead the taste organs into happy ending. Rhubarb sorbet was fresh and not too sweet at all. It would also be a nice palate cleaner between the dishes.
Definitely recommendable if you want to chill out, and carry home good mood and satisfied tummy and taste organs.More
We waited 1½ hour starters. It took pretty long to get drink orders in also. Main courses were brought sooner, but the general mood was unfortunately gone. Nice spot near by sea, but definitely needs improvements into service level and handling the whole process.
We had to wait one hour to get the food.
As we finally got it it was cold (just imagine cold steak, cold burger and cold shrimps...).
Surf and turf was a very small piece of meat and three small shrimp.
We were told that...they had "too many guests"... So there is a way to help it out.More
