We had a dinner with ca 12 people and I have to say I was positively surprised of the place. The interior is gorgeous. The crab cake as a starter was nice but not special. A grilled sea bass followed and it was really good...and the accompanying wines were good, but not sensational. But the star of the show was the pecan pie, with cherry ice cream. Just so excellent combination of softness, crunchy nuts, and fresh ice cream with delicious cherry flavours. Also interestingly, the Italian dessert wine was the best we drank: not too sweet, and overall a fun wine to drink.More

This restaurant is located in the heart of Helsinki by the sea in a very historic building. The Interior space is relaxing and its feels like stepping back in time, when you enter the space. Menu is based on American Southern Cooking with some Scandinavian...influence. Service was very polite, but they made so many mistakes varying from wrong main course and charging us for things that we did not order. I would still go back and try it again.More

We ate dinner here last night and ended up loving each and every moment. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was elegant, yet delightfully casual, and the service was absolutely brilliant. Our server, Saana, truly succeeded in making us feel welcome and cared for. I...will definitely recommend this establishment to my peers. After all, who doesn’t love great food and amazing customer service?More

Had dinner here last Thursday with colleagues. The new chef, Eero, came out to see us and explain the menu. Instead of choosing, two of us asked him to make us what he thought we might like - neither of us have too many limitations....Another colleague had a chicken dish. Anyway, the chicken was great, but the sea bass was exceptional. I travel a lot and therefore eat out a lot too - quite often in Helsinki. There are a good number of great restaurants in Helsinki, but I had to say that this was probably the best plate of food I’d had this year. Try it, it’s great and the staff are friendly and professional.More

Lucky to stumble on this restaurant adjacent to our hotel -Haven-after sightseeing. It had a cozy atmosphere and was full of locals having a good time, but not noisy. Our waitress Olga could not have been more helpful or professional. The menu includes some surprises:items from...the southern USA, like shrimp and grits (I was sorely tempted) and fried green tomatoes. I had the fried green tomatoes as an appetizer. Menu had many appealing dishes, and we chose the most delicious crispy sea bass. With a nice wine the price was very reasonable overall and I would not hesitate to eat there again and recommend it to others. Reservations probably a good idea.More

We visited Sue Ellen on Saturday and the place was full of people having fun. Nice otherwise but the place was so noisy that it was difficult to discuss. So we concentrated on eating instead. We started with oysters, which were as expected. Then the...Family menu with wine package for eveybody. Crab cake continued the high fly. The catch of the day was more ordinary. The desert Sweet Potato pie was Christmas style happy end. Wines were good and all from US. Nice interior and polite service. Would have been more charming dinner with less noise.More

We really had a nice evening at Sue Ellen. The food was delicious, the background music pleasant swing, atmosphere enjoyable and the staff was fantastic. I told one of the waiters that I was pregnant and all the staff and kitchen took that into account...at every step. I warmly recommend Sue Ellen.More

One of us had the North Atlantic Makerel, the other the roasted brisket. Both were excellent. Service was friendly and very efficient. Ambience was nice. I called it mid-range. That would be mid-range for Finland/Scandanavia. A bit over $100 US for 2.

I have a three coarse meal, each of the coarses was present to the table with an explaination of what i was about to enjoy. They also helped with the selection of local wine with a description. The staff in house where all very well...trained. The meal was the best that I was to have on my week in Helsinki Well done.More
