The Bistro includes a cosy dining room and seaview terrace. One can stop over for a coffee and cake, an artisan beer, a burger or pizza or a three course meal with organic wines. A good pizza dinner

The food was nice, my friend and I both ordered pizzas and they were very fresh and delicious. They had a nice area for outdoor seating which was appreciated on a sunny day! The drinks were unbelievably expensive, though, just one soft drink almost half the price of a pizza... But our foods came quick and the customer service was very friendly!

OK food in nice surroundings

Had a Cesar salad, came with fresh vegetables and good amount of tasty cheese and chicken which was however quite pale and neutral in taste; I'd have preferred it prepared to crispier, golden tone. Sauce could also have had more character, and been used more generously. Slightly pricey. Very friendly service.

Like a country restaurant near Helsinki City center

The inside is very nice, a classic wooden house from the 19th century. The outside is a cheerful terrace which sits between the restaurant and natural prairie. They could have mowed the adjacent lot but thankfully they let it be, and the effect was as if we were in the country. They have pizza and burgers and pepper steak. I recommend caesar salad and shrimp scampi for starters. The wine list features good choices from New Zealand. A great off-the-road dining experience. You must take the ferry to Suomenlinna which leaves every 30 minutes from Helsinki main market square.

Terrible experience in an unprofessional eatery.

Ordered "vegetable pasta" from the lunch menu. What arrived was fusilli pasta with tofu, bell pepper, onion, banana, curry, chili powder, coconut cream and cream. Topped with grated parmesan. It was disgusting and inedible. The waitress was surprised as she said she had eaten it herself and enjoyed it. Well, that's her problem. For me and my companion it was terrible. Instead we ordered salmon soup in exchange since the lunch could not be eaten. The soup was average but edible. The worst part was that the waitress then charged my companion (while I was away from the table) for the soup as well as the pasta - meaning we spent 55€ on two bowls of soup. After writing a complaint requesting a refund (or perhaps a voucher at least) the restaurant replied with "sorry you don't like out vegetable pasta but we don't know what everyone likes". What the ...? Ask yourself, a) if you ordered vegetable pasta in a restaurant would you expect it to have the above ingredients in it? And b) in any restaurant, if you are delivered food that is inedible would you expect to pay for it? In summary, bad food, bad service, bad restaurant. Don't go there. There are many much better places to eat both on Suomenlinna and in Helsinki in general.

I can't recommend this restaurant for anyone. The service was unprofessional and the food didn't have any taste at all. The portions were quite small. The restaurant was half empty and still we had to wait the ordered portions at keast 45 minutes.

Worst restaurant experience in ages

The service was funny but really unprofessional. Food was way below average with dry and burnt burgers and raw salmon. We had a large business group, last two meals were served after the rest had already finished. The waitress even made a joke that burnt burger and raw salmon equals perfect food on average.

Very strange, avoid if you want food

Very bizzare place, service poor but very amusing, think laurel and hardy crossed with faulty towers. Food was disgraceful and inedible. Main courses arrived over about 1 hour, raw salmon, burnt burgers, microwaved lasagne.

My family and I had lunch here yesterday. We arrived a little before 2 pm and were informed that we would have to wait about an hour for the food. We stayed because we knew that it would be worthwhile for us to change another restaurant and it would take the same amount of time to find it. When we placed an order at the counter, all the dishes were almost gone. For example, salmon soup, the portion on the daily menu, Scampi...etc. Finally, after waiting for an hour, we got the food. I have never eaten such a bad lasagna in my life. The lasagna came in a small ceramic dish and looked and tasted like yesterday, there was no cheese or minced meat in it. The lasagne was a dry crumb. The other dishes in our family didn't make our tongues water either, on the contrary, the dishes looked miserable to everyone. we didn't realize to take pictures because the hunger was already so great at this point. Another note about the size of the lasagna. This dish made me hungry. I can't recommend the place. You can look for worse.

The online order system worked well but didn’t quite meet with service. We were a party of four and one got her meal after others had already finished, after asking for it twice. The pizzas were good but smash burger dry and tasteless.

Does not pick up phone calls from foreign numbers

Good food, but hard to book - at least in my case the restaurant did not pick up multiple phone calls from abroad to reserve. Great location right by the (municipal, cheap) ferry. Not as allergy-friendly as some of the other restaurants on the island.

We were lucky to order sitting outside. We ordered smash burgers: good, coarser: medium, Caesar salad: too much sauce, lasagna: excellent and crepes lemon merengue: average. Service is efficient.

Terrible!! Not worth the wait

Unbelievable waiting for food. Not many people and we waited over an hour. Never have I experienced anything like this... Worst ever. Btw, I am still waiting. Been 1h10min so far.
