We had family dinner in Grön with our 9 years daughter.
We made table reservation several weeks in advance, and I recommend doing that. Restaurant has quite limited number of tables and it’s popular restaurant, so it’s hard finding table without booking.
Concept was kind of relaxed fine-dining. Food was based mostly on organic and local raw materials. Dishes were good and nice looking. Service was good and wines were really well matched to foods. ..so I warmly recommend choosing wine menu!
Menu with wines has some cost, so I cannot recommend it if you are looking for cheap dinner.
All in all dinner was nice experience with no big surprises.

We had heard a lot of good about this place, and sometimes the expectations are pumped up so high, that in the end you are disappointed. Not this time, because Grön is a Michelin star restaurant like no other we have tried. It is like you were sitting in the living room of a group of your skateboarder friends, that happen to like food, and want to use Finnish nature in its best to cook you meal of it.
The food is incredible. It is tasty, and beautiful, but what attracted me the most was the obvious love and respect the kitchen has towards the raw material. It is lovingly prepared.
The wine with food is spot on. The sommelier is down to earth and warm. I fell in love with the dessert wine, asked him where I could get it, and after a while he already brought a note with the name of a web site I could buy it from!
I could go on for ages of cutlery, and plates, and how everyone is greeted by the whole staff, but maybe you get the point.
Go to Grön and eat. You will not regret it.

Visited this place yesterday and received a warm welcome and an experience to remember. The 6-7 courses were beautiful, tasty and exciting. Lots of vegetables and a little bit of meat/fish to complement them. The service was attentive to the smallest detail and made a huge difference to your average restaurant visit. The ambience was fun and lively with chefs preparing dishes and running around in the small restaurant. The eye for details both in dishes but in the overall service and setting was impressive. The meat tacos were amazing but so were all other dishes as well, even the bread and butter. Simply delicious. Would've been a 5/5 but personally there must be something highly personal to the visit to make it a 5. This was solid form beginning to end, however.

It was very disappointing expierence especially because we were so excited of celebrating a birthday in this restauraunt! We had a preset menu with pairing wines. Food was extreamely strange in bad way, all ingridients were were cheap (main dish was chicken) or directly from forest and the wines were almost undrinkable (very yeasty). Don’t get me wrong - I like unusual food very much and visited a lot of Michelin restaurants all over the globe but this one unfortunately is not worth of visit

Good food, overwhelming service and expensive water. So let's start of with the positive; the food. It was a solid performance of the kitchen. Most dishes were very good, a little bit experimental and had a strong Nordic influence. If it was just for the food, I would definitely come more often. Then to the neutral part; the service. The service really worked hard to make sure that they were attending to the tables. In my opinion it was way too much and it looked almost like a dance, multiple waiters moving bread plates during the meals. The downside here was that it was almost impossible to have a longer conversation as we were interrupted very frequently. Now to the negative; the water. Charging for (carbonated) tab water is uncommon and in bad taste in opinion of many locals. Not all locals of course. Please check this before they offer you the water and you order it. We paid 6€ per person (August 2022). But if you don't mind, you might be happy with this restaurant choice.

This was our ninth dinner at Grön, and every visit has been memorable. We love the food, the wines, the atmosphere, the sights and sounds of the open kitchen, and the attentive service. I have always been content here. They always have a vegan menu, and they use ingredients foraged & from their own garden. This is the most innovative kitchen I know.
This time, the best experiences were a Japanese flatbread/pancake topped with soft leeks and charred roses, a spring cabbage roll amongs greens, and summertime strawberry pancake feast (!).

While it’s true that many of Grön’s dishes are fresh and authentically Finnish, the service was anything but authentic or Finnish. My family and I went to celebrate my wife’s birthday. Moments after sitting down, the waitress wished my wife a happy birthday and asked us if she could ‘offer us some champagne’ for the occasion. We took this phrasing to mean that the champagne was on the house, but we were actually charged 16€ per glass and were not even told the name of the champagne we were getting. Even after asking for the wine list three times, we were never given this and just had to go by the waiters’ descriptions which made the entire experience somewhat confusing.
We were also unpleasantly surprised to see that a 15% tip was pre-added to the bill without us being asked first. This is not at all customary in Finnish restaurant culture; here, it is always up to the customer whether they want to tip or not, and it thus left a bit of a sour taste in our mouths.

We had decided that we were going to spend more money than is sensible on food on each of the four nights we were in Helsinki. Every night we visited a different highly recommended restaurant. The third night we visited Gron and were blown away, both by the quality of the food and hospitality. The chefs served some of the courses themselves, which gave the place a very warm and cooperative atmosphere (In contrast to the cold and stuffy Savoy we visited the previous evening). The portion sizes were perfect, and the extra bread provided was a lovely touch of generosity. Below is how I'd rank each of the restaurants we visited, from lowest to highest:
4. The Savoy
3. Kuu
2. Olo
1. Gron
If you go to one really nice restaurant in Helsinki, pick this one!

Grön’s flavours do not disappoint! This was my second visit to Grön and I was even more delighted the second time around. Between us, one vegan menu, one normal; two very satisfied diners (in a very good way—we were sated but not stuffed). The open kitchen adds drama and the dining room is Scandi-chic while also cosy.
The only slight criticism I might make is the limited alcohol options; neither of us really likes wine, which left rather slim pickings—we went for beer. A few well-chosen local spirits that complement the food would be heartily welcomed. Still, the evening was delightful and we look forward to returning once again. Kiitoksia!

I don’t know how anyone could complain about anything from this experience. I’ve eaten at a number of theworlds50best.com, including four of the top five in the past 18 months, and the food here stacks up well and the service was NOT overwhelming (as some have indicated). It’s rather casual and only 20 seats and all that is part of the charm.
One of the most important factors to me is the portion size. Too often you get two-thirds of the way through and have to start thinking about what not to eat because you’re getting so full. Portion sizes were perfect and I finished every bite without discomfort. And for about $300 US including wine pairing, it’s practically a bargain

We were three people. We ordered two normal summer menus and out of curiosity one vegan menu. So everyone had the opportunityto taste both menus. They were both great. In vegan menu for some portions tastes were even fresher than in the summer menu. All in all whichever menu you end up ordering it will be great. Wine pairings were good, too. One pairing was with special beer…not so suuccesfull to my taste. I would ask to replace the beer by wine.

Was expecting way more for being a Michelin restaurant.
They have this thing where the say a big "MOI!" (hello, in Finnish), really loud as if you are entering a Japanese restaurant. The problem is that the restaurant is small and it get SUPER annoying!
Another thing was them rushing us to have our coffee in the end quickly because they had another sitting coming. Please mind that we were there on time and we had to fly through all the courses because they kept bringing them real quick one after another.
The waiter actually said in the end "You'll have to have your coffee quickly because we have another sitting coming. But the whole timing was imposed by them plus, we are paying high money for the experience! WTF?

This was the most expensive dinner we had in Helsinki but was worth it. The food was very good and very creative with local products.
