Very nice experience overall. The staff was superb and the food was excellent. We had a wine pairing and a nonalcoholic pairing and were both happy with the drinks. The restaurant is located in the center of Helsinki and decorated accordingly. The only minus was...that the food was pretty much the same as it was at the pop up place a couple years back and I got the feeling that I already tasted everything. But definitely worth a visit for the great professionalism and good food.More

Not a service you expect from a restaurant like this. Average food, very disappointing service if you do not order better wine package or anything else (outside the tasting menu). Constantly pushed purchasing of "extra bread plate" and far too expensive sparkling water "offered" as...a complimentary service. Would not go again, would not recommend. A bit disappointing experience, considering it was a celebration of my partners birthday and it has ended with a sad aftertaste.More

This restaurant deserves its Michelin recognition and we would go back in a heartbeat. The chef and the sommelier are innovative and outstanding. They capture the Finnish vibes in a thoughtful, beautiful manner. The atmosphere (including table decor and lighting, silverware and china) is gorgeous...and thoughtful. Service was top flight. Cost was $225 per person which was quite reasonable in my experience for this type of place.More

The restaurant is unpretentious in design with imaginative ceiling cover that reduces ambient noise. Set menu offers little choice of fish or meat but the quality of the small portions shows imagination , great attention to detail and first class service resulting in a truly...memorable meal. Would like to return just for more dishes with wild mushrooms.Congratulations to the chef . Only disappointment is the limited wine list at prices that could be difficult to justify for visitors from most countries.More

Very fancy place with detailed design. You can clearly feel and see that it is a bit better place. The staff was friendly and professional. Food was great, but also quite expensive. But if you appreciate great food, definitely would recommend. Personally I find it...difficult to find value in this price range, but it is not an issue of the restaurant at all. Definitely sorth a visit if the menu fits your taste!More

We had to book a month in advance, but finally got to have our anniversary meal (3 weeks late) at Finnjävel Salonki. The Michelin Star restaurant was recently featured on Somebody Feed Phil and takes classic Finnish dishes (often school meals that have haunted Finns...for most of their lives) and reimagines them. We opted for the 5 course set menu (there's an 8 course) and had an absolutely fabulous experience. To my shame I didn't take a photo of the menu, and can't remember all the names. And, of course many looked much more spectacular before they were dressed with broths and sauces at the table. But that's not how food works! The dishes are petite, but the point of a course menu is that by the end you a full and satisfied, but not bursting at the seams. They achieved this easily.More

We sought out this restaurant after watching Somebody Feed Phil on Netflix. It was worth it and a highlight of our visit to Helsinki. The dishes were unique and beautifully presented. The staff were wonderful and really passionate about food. The wine pairings were perfect.

Visited the restaurant as solo and had the four course menu together with the superior wine menu. Starter was excellent especially the curry marinated herrings and the potatoes. Second starter was the restaurant touch on the famous Janssons fristelser, apparently hated by the Finnish. Well….absolutely...nothing to hate on this touch. Main course was smoked trout….smoked by the order, it was absolutely fantastic (wherefore the 5 stars given). Crisp skin and a sense full taste of fresh freshly smoked fish. Dessert was lovely as well, white filled chocolate with ice-cream. To end this excellent course, I ordered filter coffee with a (two) Finnish brandy, the waiter had no reason to be humble about about the brandy. Best coffee I had during one month business trip in Europe. Paid total 179 EUR, which is very reasonable and can recommend this restaurant and will definitely visit again if I have the opportunity.More

It is true that the portions are small but at the end of the smaller menu I did not feel hungry. Wondefful wine steward and very efficient and friendly staff. The wines by the glass were well chosen, but I found it a bit odd...that there were none on their wine list. I understand that the wines open are meant to go with the day's menu, which changes, but still. They high point was the dessert for us, though everything was good.More

Our group of 3 people eat dinner in Finnjävel SALI, not Salonki. They are 2 restaurants inside the Finnjävel restaurant. Sali is more casual. Service and food was excellent!

Great staff but mixed feelings about the food and pairings.Visited in 2017, was amazing then.. 2/4 of the foods were just so and so. One pairing was even bad. First lepuska course was a tad basic. Main fish course and wine pairing was great! As...was the dessert. But for the rave reviews I would have expected so much more.. A bit disappointed.More

We had a pre-ordered 4 course dinner for 12 people. Fast and attentive service, good looking tasty (but a bit small) portions with paired wines. I'm not sure why I review 4 stars instead on 5. Perhaps I expected something more because of the Michelin...plate. But maybe this just means that Helsinki has many great restaurants without Michelin plate... However, exceptionally tasty food and only a bit over 100 euros per person including the wines! Worth trying!More

Excellent wines accompanied with excellent wine knowledge and presentation. Otherwise, service was according to the restaurant’s theme. The menu that we had featured some great dishes (like mushroom), but did unfortunately distinguish itself from an average fine dining in Helsinki.

We organized a board meeting at the private room in Salonki. The room was nice and quite adequate! The fixed 5-course tasting dinner was a winning success and very enjoyable. Our 'Raw salted deer' and the 'Potato gruel' were clear successes. The 'Pike perch à...la Mannerheim' was, to me, the weakest component; very faint, mushy. Then, 'Mallard à la Suvorov' and the 'Tarragon carrot' were excellent. Our 'better' wine-pairing package proved quite interesting, with some very unexpected and unusual varietals. Service, after some unexpected, surprising initial friction, was excellent. Our waitress Hanna was very responsive and kind, learning her trade in a superbly promising way. A valued experience, to be repeated.More

Overall very good setting and atmosphere. Duck little bit too salty for our taste. Finished dining at 10:30pm and at midnight both my wife and I got some stomach related food poisoning symptoms. Mine were milder than my wife's who could not sleep. Those passed...away after an hour or so leaving upset feeling after all to my wife. This was on Saturday November 6 evening (if anyone got same symptoms). We were both tested for Covid and we were both negative.More
