The food and service were excellent but I do think that in this kind of restaurant the staff should wear masks during a pandemic, especially when the place was full. The waitors need to come very close to the guests because of the limited space and I felt a little unsafe because they didn’t wear a mask. I was expecting them to wear them because other fine dining places do. If corona wasn’t around I would definitely recommend the place. Our waitor was very lovely and we experienced excellent service.

We walked in for a quick lunch but will definately go back for a full dinner. The food was great...Ceasar salad had fantastic taste. The main dish was cod and it was possible the best cod I have ever had. Perfectly cooked. Also the wine suggested by the sommelier was perfect for both the starter salad and for the main. The wine list was not huge but had several good wines. Service was professional, friendly.

A perfect dinner

Vinkkeli has earned its place as a popular dinner spot in Helsinki. A classic setting with knowledgeable and friendly staff. The steak tartare was sublime and the pike-perch absolutely fresh. To round off the dinner we got some cheese - a good assortment, high quality, but the way they were served were a bit rough, out of style. Rich wine list. It's been a while since I visited but this place is worth a re-visit soon.

Beautiful and cozy place

A beautiful restaurant that we chose for Valentines dinner, but in Finland would be to celebrate Friendship Day. The staff is nice, the sommelier super nice. They offered almost any wine in the menu as carafe. They have a daily 4 course chef’s menu EUR 62 that can be paired with wine + EUR 60. Or the ala carte menu. The menu has 3 options as starter, and 3 options for main. Cheese plate and dessert. We went with the ala carte. Lamb terrine and cheese platter for starter. Yes. I eat cheese on my starter. Main OX my husband said was nice but not amazing. I chose the cod. It was very nicely made, but the difference was the sweet potato flavour and the black lentils. Dessert orange sorbet and mouse. A bit tangy for my taste but looks very nice. I would easily recommend.

Highly recommended, but but

Had a lunch menu. The setting was great in good atmosphere Class of champagne for beginning...Then a tasty soup with great bread. For main course fish with white wine., and as desert a nice sweet “thing” with tee It was tasty, but that something was missing Do not really know what, but definitely something I will come back to dinner, to find that something I recommend

Dinner with champagne tasting

We were a group of 10 and had 4 course dinner with champagne tasting at downstairs private room. First we had a magnificent tasting with experienced sommelier who really knew everything. The dinner was carefully prepared and served as you could assume at a Guide Michelin restaurant. Would love to eat here again!

Fabulous!

Lovely setting for a fabulous dining experience. We had a 4 course meal with wine pairings. All the food and presentations were amazing. Each course was unique and well prepared. I have many allergies that our lovely waitress Sara ensured she understood and the chef accommodated with excellent substitutions/adjustments. Wine preferences were also accommodated in the pairings. Truly the best dining experience over the last two weeks in Finland and Sweden.

Disappointing

Our expectations were high, having had a glowing recommendation from a local. Arrived to be greeted by modern décor and serious standards. Waiter seemed a little distracted by what may have been the owner or a local celebrity so we probably got less attention than would be normal. At the times he did engage, he was on point with matters such as wine selection. We went for a la carte as opposed to the set menu, which comes with a choice of wine. Fish and chicken starters, which were ok, followed by the beef, which was hard work. Sadly not the highlight of our visit to Helsinki.

Not quite what was expected

30.4. ( Labor/Walborg/Vappu evening ) menu with recommnded wines exept that I prefered dark bier with toast skagen over wine. The skagen was OK, deconstructed as is in the fashion now, but this did not add anything to it. Very nice fresh shrimps in it. The first entre or main course was creme ninon, French pea soup with fresh peas and creme: very tasty. Unfortunately we thought that the choron-sauce base was in our opinion too much reduced? Anyhow it was so salty and acidic that it couldn't match any wine and was indeed left on the plate mostly. Some very acidic onion on the side didn't help at all. The nicely grilled flank steak was thus almost ruined. Chocolate cake dessert with touch of whipped cream and sour cherry was again OK. For the menu recommended wines were mostly OK.

Escape from the crowds

My husband and I wanted a quiet out-of-the-way place with authenticity while we were visiting Helsinki away from the tourists and crowds our hotel concierge directed us to this former antique store. Location turned into a corner neighborhood restaurant. Not only is it lovely and decor and environment, but also warm and inviting. The staff could not have been friendlier and more knowledgeable about foods and wine pairing. Everything was fresh, delicious and served in the right proportions. Well paced without feeling rushed or slow we felt we were family. Highly recommend!

Fabulous!

We had a wonderful evening at Vinkkeli when holidaying in Helsinki. The atmosphere is elegant and the service attentive. The food was amazing - an Asian style fish (the ‘special’ on that night) that was just the right amount of flavour and spice and certainly not what we expected to find in a Nordic restaurant. We’d definitely be straight back if we were to visit Helsinki again. The soft flurry of snow as we left only added to the magic of the night. Thanks to all at Vinkkeli for looking after us!

Excellent Dining Experience!

Vinkkeli is a wonderful restaurant. The food is A+. We had the Iberico Pork and the Perch. We both had the roasted sweet potatoes with chimichurry sauce. It was a really good dinner! The service was excellent and our waiter quite pleasant. The wine list is extensive, and the physical facilities charming. The restaurant is quite popular so book ahead.

Excellent experience and great service

Excellent experience - had the 4 course menu with matching wines, enjoyed every course and wine very much. Also had the cheese plate which was lovely too. Best of all the service was outstanding, very warm and knowledgeable. Would recommend! Book in advance, as the restaurant was fully booked for the whole night.

Wonderful neighborhood restaurant

This restaurant was near our hotel and highly recommended. We were met at the door and from that moment on we felt like we were part of the family. Tonight there was a limited menu as well as a 4 course chef menu. We chose to go ala cart and the fish and beef we had were fantastic. Also wines chosen for us were delicious. We will be back next time we are in Helsinki!

An unforgetable experience

You are taken care of from the moment you set foot on Vinkkeli. The staff greets you and you are being guided to your table. The food is carefully designed for the guests. I loved the classic service and even when you leave you are handed your jacket by the staff. I felt at home. I have been there three times and every time it gets better. I recommend Vinkkeli greatly.
