I had a 4 course Helsinki-menu and it included starter, main course, cheese and dessert. The starter was really good reindeer tartar, main course was pan fried trout; again really good. The cheese and dessert were good, but the dark chocolate cake was a bit...too rich for my taste. All in all there was some surprising tastes in the menu and I liked that. I must also recommend the sea-buckthorn glogg; it's a nice alternative to a regular glogg. The staff was friendly and helpful and the restaurant itself was cozy and nice.More

This restaurant serves fresh Finnish food a la carte and on menus. The environment is basic nothing special. The food is excellent with some creativity but without craziness, you can identify all components. Prices are correct and service is attentive.

Mixed experience. Some of the food was very good, but some was not at all. And after trying arctic charr several times (in other places as well) I now have to admit that I do not like it. Service here was very professional and friendly....Restaurant recommends making reservations for larger groups, which we had done. I don’t think I’ll return.More

This is a busy and not large restaurant so wise to book, especially for evenings and weekends ..I booked on line the day before for a Friday evening OK. The tables are pretty close together so be prepared for that ..American guy next to me...when I first arrived on his phone swearing..albeit quietly at someone (even with him using earpiece) meant you heard absolutely everything..luckily he left soon after. The service for me was functional rather than friendly and welcoming..not many smiles..they are obviously very busy?. There are some good set menus ..most expensive at time of review €55..which I felt was good value for quality of food and set against local prices plus a la carte options. Traditional Salmon Soup very good, full of flavour. For me the Reindeer fillet was the highlight...beautifully tender and tasty in a berry sauce. The only not so great dish was the local goat cheese with jam..a tiny slither of cheese with......a jam was a little underwhelming after the great first two courses. Panna cotta with pomegranate ice cream was a very good ending. Good selection of aperitifs and wine by the glass as well as an extensive wine list. So overall a nice place for a good quality and enjoyable meal all nicely presented.More

On a recent trip to Helsinki, I diuked into this fine establishment prior to a concert nearby in TheMusic Center. I thought it might be good-but no- it was outstanding. Ordering al la carte, most everything offered from the 58 euro Champagne Menu (if taken,...I might never have made it to the concert-4 glasses of champagne one to accompany each course!) to all items a la carte appealed. Selecting an all vegaterian menu, the starter was excellent, but the main dish, a potato and wide ranging mushroom combination in a tasty sauce, was sublime. Btw, the bread was to die for. The dessert, a panacotta in champagne sauce, all adult, was unlike any dessert I had before and since. The wine suggested by my waiter, (bt the glass- with a tase offered befpore the pour) was an exceptional Pinto Noir from Alsace- a rare find for me. Service truly profesisonal, atmosphere relaxing, unstuffy, this ravintola rocks.More

Weeding anniversary dinner. Excellent food and service. Portions are very tasty, not too small, - so, you are not leaving the place still hungry :) Also vine is good!

We had a choice of one of 2 set menus for our large group. We had to book well in advance, and just as well, because it was full to capacity. Lovely cosy feeling in the restaurant. Plenty of choice of good wines. The food...was amazing! I had the salmon soup, (which was kindly swapped from the reindeer dish, as I don't eat meat), Arctic char fish, and chocolate... (something) with mint sorbet-one of the best desserts I have ever had!! Highly recommend!! Book early!!More

Did a bit of researching on where to dine and picked Kuu amongst a few shortlisted restaurants. Restaurant is small, nice, and filled with locals on a weeknight, after work. It’s a bit loud with the locals but we were happy to be eating in...a local favourite. Food was good but not great as expected. We both had the same menu. When the 1st course smoked salmon soup was served, the portions were clearly disproportionate. My partner had a nice chunky piece of salmon while mine was the end piece of the tail which was not meaty at all. The main of reindeer fillet was good. Nicely cooked. Third course was the local cheese which is only one sliver, if you take tiny bites, you could stretch it out to 4 bites. Worst cheese course we ever had. We got more cheese on the planes The dessert was really eye pleasing and delicious. Waiters seemed very friendly with the local diners and somehow I felt we were not shown the same hospitality. They were courteous but rather mechanical with us. It was like, “this is your food, it is such & such, enjoy”... I saw them asking the locals if they would like to have something else to drink, like port, with their dessert course. I was excited because I enjoy a port with my dessert, but of course, we weren’t offer to order any. We finished up our dessert and left. We chose to dine in a local favourite but weren’t expected to be treated differently. Should have picked one in the city instead.More

My partner and i visited this resturant on our anniversary and the food was fantastic. A bit pricy though and i wished it came in bigger portions lol! But anyways, we enjoyed our fine dining.
