Nice place, amateur level service

The place is nice and location is great. This could be a summer favorite, but having visited several times, I've decided to take my money elsewhere in the future. The service is very slow and amateurish. Visited a few weeks ago for takeout lunch. Arrived just when they opened. Menu was simple, just salmon and rice and a few salads to choose from. 10 people before me in line. Waited close to 20 minutes to order and once I was up, they told me it would be another 25 minutes to get my order because so many orders before me. Asked if I would get a number to know when my order was ready or if they would take my name, the waitress just asked for me to see who was before me and come pick up my order when I think it's my turn.

Our kitchen is quite small so we don't have room to prepare more than a few orders at once and sometimes it creates a wait, but we try to make sure it does not happen. It gets busy

We both ordered the chicken sandwiches and water. The chicken breast inside was quite large (a good thing) but the bread was perhaps little too crispy. A good quality bread as such, but for a warm sandwich something like a focaccia would be a better choice. Quite standard fries, but the aioli was somewhat tasteless. From other visits I recall the coffee is good and so is the salmon soup. But the place is small inside and there isn’t much intimacy as this is mostly a cafe, not a restaurant ; the rooftop terrace is very crowded on sunny days and nights.

Tasteful but raw

Excellent view, great location. Just burgers available in the upper deck (well, barbeque ribs too), which is a bit disappointing since the place is gorgeous, makes you want to eat seafood :) Burgers were tasteful and they came really quickly but the minced meat was very raw. A bit disgusting, even though the meat is probably Finnish and appeared to be fresh. Potatoes with majo tasted excellent. Food was served without plates, just on the tray. Not sure how hygienic that is but maybe I am just too picky.

Poor service

We went there as our friends spent the weekend in Matinkylä, all of our burgers came cold and my friends salad came without dressing. We asked to redo them and the burgers came back... very well done and extremely dry. Forks were missing from the counter and ice wasn't available downstairs neither upstairs.

Hello and thank you for your review Mathilde! I'm very sorry that your experience wasn't good. I'm sorry for the foods that you received and we have gone through your review with the kitchen staff. On very busy summer days the forks and knives might run out but we make sure that we get more as soon as possible. When it's very hot the ice machines doesn't always keep up with the speed of the customers and sometimes we run out of ice. Terrible experience

We drove for over an hour to get to this restaurant to get the chicken sandwiches and they told us they can’t make them at the moment. Didn’t tell in the first place that they cannot do certain foods or anything. At the point I was already ordering they told me that. Terrible cuts service and didn’t even apologize. 0/5

Can’t recommend to anyone

The food was of terrible quality. The tofu, the asparagus and all the greens in the tofu sandwich tasted like they had gone bad days ago. The service was also pretty much non-existant. I ordered a soda and I wasn’t even told that I need to go pick the bottle up myself, or given a glass and ice whatsoever.

Go for a drink, not for a dinner.

The views from the top terrace are great, however the food was below all expectations. We had three cheeseburgers and in all of them the minced meat beef was almost burnt and extremely dry. I have never eaten so bad burger in my life. The service is ok, but nothing special either.

Awesome Summer Spot!

Visited twice during a short trip to Finland. Loved everything about this place. Nice food -- salads were fresh, salmon soup was tasty, and burgers looked quite nice too (next time will have to try a burger). Setting is perfect, especially the upstairs deck. Pick a nice Summer day, bring your sunglasses, and enjoy a nice lunch/brunch/etc.

Summer is here, and the bar at the roof

Summer is here, and the roof terrace of Majakka Great burgers and salad. Nice cold drinks. Service is fast, except in the kitchen Service with a smile. Distance is kept and cleanes is priority number one Great view on the roof (and also inside) Birds stay also so far away, thanks for cleanes and 🦅 I recommend the place in this neighbourhood. Only minus in my opinion is the music selection what is played on the weekends, not my cup of tee.

Best ever BBQ Ribs

So exellent BBQ Ribs, you can see smoking grilli 30min. Best ever with coleslaw Salla and fresh potatoes. Upstairs at terasse beautifull sea view. Full of happy customers.

Lovely seaside cafe with healthy salads

I came here with my friend and really liked the salad here, the salmon salad I ordered was divine! The view from the cafe is really pretty and it has a nice casual atmosphere. There was an English menu which was helpful for me as a tourist and the staff were friendly. Overall a really nice seaside cafe with healthy salads and good coffee. I also noticed they have matcha lattes as well!

Good seaside cafe!

It is modern nice cafe on the seaside, right on the pier. Nice sea and islands views, good choice of tasty sweets and coffee. The only thing is that prices are quite high and it might be crowdy as it is popular and beaches are very near there. So during the season might be hard to catch a place there. But its ok.

Not so quick bite

Visited the restaurant on a sunny afternoon. The terrace upstairs served burgers, but they were out of fries! Howerver, people who orderd food from downstairs, got fries. Are these to sepparate restaurants? Anyway, we waited for 50 mins for our burgers. This was told when ordering, but still. 50 mins is quite a wait! Burgers were a bit dry and we did miss the fries! The location is perfect and so was the company. But without the view this restaurant would struggle a lot!

Lovely place, but just ok food

Beautiful scenery and cafe/restauraunt's decor, but just ok food (sooooo much mayonnaise and little other taste). Yesterday, when it was extra cold outside, it was also very cold inside. Even tough we ate next to the service counter, we had to wear our coats. Service in English, not Finnish.

I got a message that there is a nice restaurant in Matinkylä of the City of Espoo, which is close to the sea. I was on my way to Espoo and drove first to Nokkalan Majakka. I ordered pea soup and pancakes. Both were good and I ate 4 pancakes. I sat outside in a nice summer weather.
