The restaurant 'Asteria' ('Stars') has an elevated and covered terrace overlooking the central part of the harbour front, good for watching people and children at play. There was 'Laiki Musiki', Greek urban folk music, as background, and a friendly and very professional young waiter took...care of me, maybe a family member. The menu card contained so many dishes, that I became wary. To play it safe I asked the waiter about their 'Brizolakia Asteria' (Small Pork Chops Asteria), which looked like something special. The waiter told me that they are called 'Asteria' because they were from their own animals. It was the best about the whole dinner: three small tender pieces served with a lemon wedge. Instead of French Fries that come with it normally I asked for 'Oven Potatoes', which they had. Besides the meat I also ordered a 'Cucumber Tomato Salad', which at most places nowadays comes as a Greek Salad without the cheese. Here it really was just cucumbers and tomatoes plus a few black olives. The 'Melitzanosalata' (Eggplant Salad) was white due to plenty of mayonnaise, a combination I don't like. Their open white house wine came cold, but was very thin. The bill - with a correct receipt - was brought immediately after I had asked for it. Prices are very reasonable and payment by credit card was possible inside.More

We ate in 4 different places in Amorgos and this was our least favourite – well somewhere has to be. That is not to say that this place was bad, however the others were that much better. One dish stood out as being very good...and that was the black eye bean and spinach plate. The french fries and the fried anchovies were OK – no complaints. The fava was bland, and it was presented in a rather unattractive looking slab. Service was OK but nothing special.More

We ate here three times during our week long stay in Aegiali. The menu choice was excellent and the quality of the food always good. The waitress was friendly, helpful and made our evening very enjoyable.

We ate here twice during our visit to Aegiali. The location is lovely looking out on the water. The service is fine and the food is very good. The price is beyond reasonable for the location. We went back for the baked eggplant. It was...amazingMore

Went there for a late lunch/early dinner on 21/6, wish we hadn’t. We asked what was the special of the day and we were informed it was the “lamb in lemon sauce”. So we ordered the special and meatballs in a spicy tomato sauce. It...wasn’t busy and there wasn’t any music playing so when you hear the microwave ping it’s a bad sign. My partner even saw the lady removing the special of the day from the microwave. Meatballs were tasty enough but the spicy tomato sauce was non existent. The lamb was dreadful, a plate full of bones and gristle swimming in an oily soup which didn’t taste anything like Lemmon sauce. Give this place a wide berth. Both dishes came out of the microwave. Shameful!!!!!!!!More

Mike, the butcher and Paraskevi the cook! Those people serve local pork and goat meat! You should taste the xxl pork steak and goat shops! Try the tzatziki with that secret family old recipe. An authentic greek cuizine place full of tradition and love.

Food was amazing and service was great. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful and the food we ordered was delicious! I was surprised at how moist and juicy the grilled chicken was. Fantastic!

It looks like it is the only butcher shop in town, and the meats served seemed fresh. Recommended if you don't want to eat fish for a change.

We have dined in this taverna on each of our visits to Amorgos and are pleased to report that it is as good as ever. From the friendly welcome and good service to the very well cooked traditional menu this was a joy. It is...clearly well frequented by the locals. A beautifully smoky aubergine salad was followed by chicken souvlaki and local lamb with potatoes. Everything was tasty and the bill including a half kilo of retsina and a quarter kilo of white wine came to just 21 euros. Recommended.More
