18 years ago someone mentioned this place to me as a must visit if I ever come to Oulu. I finally made to Oulu and it was worth it. Their signature Teurastaja burger has everything and it is not too expensive. Their habanero dip was very tasty and the onion rings are plentiful for just a couple of euros.
It is a small place, but I would very much recommend a visit for anyone who likes burgers.

This casual and somewhat spartan place in central Oulu offers all kinds of burgers. I had "la bruschetta", hamburger with cooked cheese, caramelized onion and tomato; my husband classic hamburger with meat and cheese. Buoni! The menu in English is available online on the website. You order and pay at the checkout, and you sit at your table inside, or outside on a terrace. We opted for the terrace, In the room opposite there was live music, so we also heard the concert!

Nice little restaurant with a special flair.
A must go for every Oulo visitor.
The menu has a broad range of food. Vegetarians do find something as well.

I went to visit Kauppur after a long time, this time at lunchtime. I ended up going for the "Chili" burger with a four (something?, obviously a degree of heat) and fries with aura dip. The waiter assured that the hamburger will be hot then.
The food arrived at the table and the appearance in the hamburger and french fries was very reminiscent of the familiar sight from ABC roadside canteens. The taste was exactly the same - no idea about the hotness, the hamburger patty was the same old "dog sausage" as before, the frying oil of the French fries had definitely not been changed for years, and topping it all off was the tomato stem, which was not pleasant to bite into.
At the end of the meal, the waiter came to pick up the plate, and asked "did the food taste good?", to which I replied that "it didn't really taste good". The conversation ended there and the waiter left. I thought he was serious about it and wanted to know my honest opinion - it wasn't. I would have liked to have told you about these problems on the spot.
Why does this place have so many referrals? This is something to think about.
People, don't bother here. Naughty Burger, Social Burgerjoint, Sarkka and Rooster. Here are a few quality hamburger places in Oulu.

Kauppuri used to be really good years ago but nowadays only mediocre. There are clearly better alternatives (Social burgerjoint, Rooster, Tuba). The problem is the burger bun that is just terrible and ruins the otherwise good burgers. I do like the onion rings and Aura dip!
Service is also "different" as in weird inside jokes but that's okay. What I don't like is some times getting beer that has gone bad and having to pay for it.
Try the onion rings but I'd recommend going for some where else if you want really good burgers.

Personnel is always amazing. And the food... This is what burger is all about. Nice ingredients and good menu. Restaurant could be a bit bigger in size as it's usually crowded. But it's a part of the Kauppuri experience.

I visited here with my fiancee on a trip to Oulu. Kauppuri 5 is a culmination of happy Oulu culture with its darkness and hard rock notes.
You come here for burgers. There are plenty of options and creativity in the menu. Buns are locally made. Sauce options for fries and burgers are plentifully, and you can tune your hotness level to suicidal if you are into chili masochism.
Beer selection is large, including local micro brewery products: Everything for mainstream lager people and experimentalists.
The service is excellent and very humorous.

This was the 5th time I visited the restaurant. Many people say they have the best burgers in town, but I have to disagree. The meal has always been good, but the burger itself, the patty, is simply not good. It is packed hard like store bought meatballs, and almost chewy. This has been the case on each of my visits.
The fixings are good! So every time I have left satisfied, and the small restaurant has the right feeling to it. You will feel cramped but ok when they are busy. And they are! I will visit again!

I saw good review of this burger shop so It was on my list to visit.
overall, It was delicious burger with juicy pf meat patty. Onion ring was sold out so couldn’t tried it.
Staff was also friendly enough

Ended up here walking around looking for a place to eat. It doesn't look fancy from the outside, but I liked the burgers and french fries. You order and pay the food when entering and it's served at the tables.

I wasn't expecting much from the outside, but as soon as you come in, it's an unique experience, it's a see to believe sort of thing. Inside is small as cozy, excellent music and friendly staff with no problems serving an English customer. But the burgers..... My god! Come and try it please, this is the burger place to come to in Oulu!

The food and pricing was great, quite fast service and kind staff. The only thing that was quite off was the seatings outside. considering the fact that its at a busy street in the center of oulu, sitting outdoors was quite noisy and it felt less private and more like i was sitting in the middle of a street
