Excellent food with good service

Hella's food is first class. We went with relatives and friends for a celebratory meal and received great service. I ate Menu 2, initially individual, good blinis. The main course was excellently prepared lamb with side dishes. For dessert, melt-in-your-mouth creme brulee. The party also ate Menu 1. To start with a beautiful and excellent tatti soup, the main course was a delicious mascarpone risotto with salmon. The side dishes were wonderful taste experiences. The menu was completed by a suitably small and heavenly good chocolate cake with ice cream. The waiter was knowledgeable, nice and unhurried. A complete set.

Firts but not the last time to visit Hella

This was our first time here and we definitely visit again and again. Food was very delicious and waiter was friendly and professional. Restaurant was homelike. First we had handmade sour root bread of the house - it was heaven. Then asparagus with bacon as starter Main course pepper steak and Muffin with icecream for dessert Everything was good.

Five Star Chef and Server

The food was extremely amazing. Everything is made from scratch. The restaurant was full but the service was still awesome!! Recommendations were well matched to our taste. Saara was an excellent server. Be sure to get a shot of salted licorice liquor with your dessert. DO NOT miss dessert. When we come back to Finland (from USA) we will definitely eat here again!!

Nice food, okey service

Went here with my spouse. Great food. The reindeer mest was perfect. The service wasn’t that good but easy to overcome. We also ordered starters which tasted superb. Not overpriced at all since we ordered rare speciments off the menu. Nice staff and good food. But not as good as at home.

Bravo Hella!!

Bravo Hella! Keep it simple! That’s what Hella is doing. We had green salad as a starter, so tasty with pesto and parmigiana. You don’t need anything more. As a main Mascarpone risotto with tempura chicken. Risotto 10 out of 10 and chicken as well. The service, from the booking until to the bill, 10/10. When in Oulu you must visit Hella.

A positive suprise!

I was very positively surprised by the good quality and service here. It is hard to find good restaurants in Finland. I've had a three course meal and every course was absolutely delicious. Also the service staff is very nice and professional. Prices are fairly high, as expected in Finnland though. Definitely recommended if you want to have a good dining experience! 👌

A tasteful night...

We went to this restaurant during our travelling from Helsinki to Rovaniemi!! Even though we came in just 45 minutes before the closing the people were very kind, friendly and helpful! The food was delicious! We ordered 2 soups and for main courses lamp and beef!! They were just perfect!! The chef is really good at his job and looks like he loves what he does!! If you've ever been in this area give yourself the opportunity to taste something really delicious and special!!

Came across this one while taking a stroll, it had lot of locals visiting hence went ahead to try. Was worth it, has selective options however food is really good.

The only vegetarian dish on the menu is a good one

Took my Indian friend for a dinner. He tried beetroot black bean dish. He was happy with it after having eaten beaked potatoes for breakfast, lunch and dinner for a week. My duck was excellent. A bit noisy place.

Long Time No See

We first came to this restaurant about 8 years ago and we enjoyed it very much. For some reason we had not come back since but we decided it was time to visit again. It was Saturday night around 7.30 pm but the place was very quiet - and soon my wife and I were almost alone and so the ambiance was quiet and cold. The waitress was efficient and served well but with no pleasantries exchanged it was hard to converse (my wife is Finnish so it was not a language issue). The food came quite quickly, the starter was soup cappuccino which was very good and we enjoyed it - but as it came in a cup it felt like something you might have outdoors. The main meal of lamb was excellent and the dark sauce was lovely. The dessert was ice cream in a glass with carrot shavings - which was really bizarre. The chewing of carrot was not pleasant and it simply did not work. So in summary - good food in general and reasonably inexpensive but lacking in presentation,atmosphere and choice (only 3 options available). It was all too clinical and cold for my liking. It needs something to make it more cosy and welcoming and then maybe they would get more visitors on a Saturday night.
