Amazing Chef Jarmo Pitkänen was taking care of us. Amazing private experience and price was same as it would be in a good restaurant in Helsinki. Highly recommended. Just need to book little bit before.
What a nice surprise! I went for dinner with a few friends. I didn't expect to have such a gourmet dinner in the middle of nowhere, up north in Finland. Chef Jarmo had customized a five course dinner for us. Absolutely amazing. Local ingredients elevated...to the next level, and served on plates made by him(!) Absolutely beautiful. Highly recommended.More
We came here during a fishing trip in Kuusamo region. It was really a nice surprise, the food is excellent, recipes are coming from the Chef's international experience combined with local food, mostly fish of the region. The service is top class and location is...unique. The price is not cheap, but you have to pay for such quality, of course. Strongly recommended.More
We had a wonderful meal cooked just for us by Jarmo in late May 2013. The weather was unprecedented for the season (29c!) and so we had our aperitif on the balcony looking over the forest.
We booked long in advance and Jarmo contacted us...the week before to choose our menu. We had a Finnish fish tapas which was of the very highest quality (3 tapas portions) including a fish rarely eaten nowadays ("ruff") but which was apparently popular with the last Tsar a century ago. For main course we had the most succulent reindeer - fantastic. The meal is expensive (79 euro a head) but of a quality which would be pushing for a Michelin star were Michelin to venture this far north. The price also included aperitif and coffee so no hidden extras here!
As well as the fantastic food Jarmo serves it on his wonderful crockery made by him.
This is not really a restaurant in the usual way but you eat in a lovely room above Jarmo's pottery.
Highly recommended for something a bit different.More
