When it was time for lunch in Kajaani I found the Sulo restaurant, which had a modest lunch to a reasonable price, so I took that. Just basic food. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff.

Most of the restaurants in Kajaani were closed so we ended up to Sulo which is Sokos Hotel's chain restaurant. Service was good and food ok. I myself had veal's liver. As a starter I had house tapas platter which was huge. The aperitif made...from pink Beefeater gin was very nice.More

Hotel recommended this restaurant as the only restaurant in Kajaani if you want to have, in their own words, better food. Atmosphere in this restaurant is relaxed. Staff was glad and friendly. Fish-prawn rotisserie was horribly overcooked and lacked seasoning. Food is average chain restaurant...food. This place is clean, has all right atmosphere and waiting time is short.More

The Sulo Burger was Ok choice as there was nothing specific on the lunch menu. Ordering and payment was done at the counter and waiters were summer trainees.. maybe due to current COVID-19 related needs to cut cost

Food was good value for the money. We had starter and main course with wine. Everything was at least average. The service was quite slow even if there was not a lot of people due to the corona restrictions. There was also a queue all...the time while we were there.More

You can prepare a salad but you don’t normally ‘cook’ a salad. (Of course it’s possible to cook a hot salad or to cook some element of a salad 🤓) I have eaten recently a couple of times and today I experienced the same problem...as I had during my visit late last month. I am always very keen to tell a restaurant the truth about my experience and equally as willing to praise as I am to criticise. So during my last visit I told the duty manager that the food that I was served in the restaurant (served on what I thought was a steel grill platter and described as ‘sizzling’ ) was actually much like a finnish winter- very cold. I also explained that the device had been surprisingly fast (it was quite busy) and the food actually tasted ok - once it had been reheated. The duty manager had explained the reason that the food wasn’t sizzling - namely that the steel platters, laying on a wooden carrying base were in fact fake and would actually melt if made too hot. Hmm - not really convinced that was a good reason for cold food, upon inspection they really were fake metal platters - but you know what, at 30e per main course I was not so keen to see the funny side. So fast forward a few weeks and on a Monday evening KAJAANI restaurant choices are limited to a rather sad TWO after 7pm (I know it’s very ☹️) and tonight my wife and I had decided that we were both too tired to cook) so given that Sulo was one of the two open restaurants in an area the size of Belgium, off we set to Sulo. We both swerved the fake sizzling platter and chose the slow cooked pork and sausage . Very promptly served but very efficient staff ...STONE COLD - too tired to prolong the visit with a reheat request and fairly irritated... having forced down the cooked but cold food ( hmm how did they do that ? 🤔) I really needed somet sugar rush ...so rather foolishly I ordered the local delicacy - melted squeaky cheese in hot vanilla sauce with arctic cloudberries. After some 20 minutes it arrived - yep... unmelted squeaky cheese , Luke warm vanilla sauce in a cold oven clay pot ... or was it a fake oven clay pot... not sure. We told the duty manager about this a previous experience and I explained my sadness that my previous suggestion that the ‘heat lanterns’ and fake cold plates and poor quality assurance combined to allow cold food to consume my bank balance. This time I decided to write a review to either encourage some improvement actions (I int think so as they don’t need to do so, at least not on a mo day!) or at least warn any other customer seeking a hot meal to go to the drive —through burger placeMore

We had dinner here twice during our stay. We had salmon, liver, hamburger and overcook pork. Food was good except smash potatoes which was both time cold and salmon which was over cooked little bit. Also did try some desert which were best we try...in our stay in city. Service was good and friendly. They also did have English menu.More

I had a dinner in this restaurant. There is a good service and atmosphere. The menu had been renewed and it felt fresh. As a starter they give some crips bread with seeds! I liked that they for example have root fries as a side...dish (instead of potato chips). They have a few interesting vegetarian meals and use good ingredients.More

Sulo is a restaurant in the Sokos Hotel Valjus. We were staying at the hotel and too tired to go anywhere else so we ended up eating here. It's quite stereotypical hotel restaurant. Nothing's really wrong and everybody will be pleased. The food is easy...and fit for everybody. Although the waitress was a nice exception. Really friendly, funny and even out of the ordinary. The burger I had was really ordinary.More
