Herkkutupa is THE place for real Finnish cakes and pastries with coffee in the area! Also the savoury pies are delightful. They also serve a good home cooked lunch. This is where the locals go.
While having your coffeee you can also look through the...souveniers.More
Pass by this town, and it is time to have some rest before back on the road. We stop by Herkkutupa and they are serving buffet lunch today. The buffet costing 9.50 Euro, the food taste nice, the soup is hot, and you can have...tea or coffee. Simple, but filling lunch.More
This Cafe has the best cakes and pastries in town (including Levi area!), both sweet and savory. Quality and taste are just delicious. Try for example cheesecakes (including Mango cheesecake called "Sun Cake" or one with nougat chocolate crumbs and toffee sauce. It's almost impossible...to have only one piece... And what about those freshly baked Finnish style donuts? Die for 'em...! And the prices are way lower in comparison with major cities in Finland.
They also have good selection of teas and coffees. The owner himself (Matti) is hooked on coffee and tea so he keeps up with the quality of these.
The tea and coffee selection you can buy for you to take home (and then make a cup of tea/coffee at the comfort of your place) is the widest I know around Kittilä/Levi area. You'll also find organic and "Fair Trade" tea and coffee.
They also have lunch everyday with quite wide salad bar.
If you are staying at Levi, you definitely should try this Cafe only 15 minutes drive away. And you'll be back... :)
ps. I hope that this Christmas they'll have these delicious chocolate pralines, too. Last year they had.More
We were looking for a place to have lunch at Kittilä and found Herkkutupa right on the main street. Their lunch cost less than 8 euros and consisted of soup and a versatile salad buffet, topped with coffee/tea and dessert. I was happily surprised that...they let you to choose a piece of quiche instead of soup, which broadens the options (good especially for vegetarians). Pleasant atmosphere and good value for money for those looking for a balanced, healthy lunch.More
