Tasty bistro food in a cosy environment

We enjoyed the food at Lusto. I would describe it as bistro food made with the highest possible quality, still remaining at ordinary lunch menu price range. The restaurant itself isn’t visually stunning, but clean and cosy. This is a good alternative to certain other places you might have considered at first. One should probably visit the museum as well, but this time we missed it.

Pontential to be the best restaurant in Savonlinna

Visited here four times within ten days! Food is absolutely great! All the dishes includes starter sallad, bread, water and coffee. This restaurant really has succeed creating an excellent menu and nice athmosphere. So why 4 stars out of 5? I really would like to see a bit more attentiveness and precision from most of the waitresses.

Harmony of tastes! Do not know anything better in Finland right now.

Went dining here twice in July 2022. The restaurant has been very nicely redecorated with Teemu Järvi’s charming illustrations of Finnish wild animals. Simple ”Finnish -Japanese”, I would describe it. Fits well with the neighbouring Lusto forest museum. Cooking is based on fresh local ingedients. We had marinated tomatoes and lake fish (Perch) ceviche. For main course we had Pike Pattys with Hollandaise Sauce, Roasted Cauliflower and Chanterelle Risotto and for dessert Blueberry clafoutis with spruce icecream. Everything was really delicios!

Since buying a cabin in the area in 2019 we have dined everywhere but here until now. The service is excellent and staff really friendly. The foot is simplistic in its presentation and well suited to the area. Taste wise, it was great. I highly recommend the tartare as a starter. For the main I had a steak. I was surprised the server didn’t asked me how I would like it cooked but the chef read my mind and got it perfect. Price wise, very very reasonable. Haven’t been here before, won’t make that mistake again. I even bought their cookbook and the only have it in Finnish. Well done.

Finnish small white fish "muikku" the traditional way

Had lunch with friends at Museoravintola Lusto Jun2. They had "Puruveden muikku", and based on pictures we assumed they were pan-fried with butter. When we wondered the dry texture of the fish, kitchen told us they were deep-fried. Apart from the matter of taste, we should have been told in advance about the non-traditional way they were made. Tasty Food

This restaurant is one of the bests outside of Helsinki. The chef has one Michelin star in Helsinki, now he has opened a wonderful bistro type of restaurant near Lusto station in Punkaharju, near Savonlinna. Food is tasty , portions are big and there is a good match for price and quality . There are not many as good restaurants even in Helsinki. I would like to eat here every day.

Great food! We both ordered fish for main course, although we had different choice of fish and both were excellent. Side salad was included and was light and fresh. Pannacotta with roasted white chocolate and strawberries delighted our tastebuds.

What a surprise!

A little 'constrained by schedules, after visiting the Forest Museum, we found ourselves eating in this restaurant that turned out to be a wonderful surprise. Excellent dishes, portions even large and "low" prices, always according to Finnish standards. Super recommended.

So delicious!

We had our annual family lunch in this restaurant and couldn't have been happier with our choice! We were a group of 29 people which is certainly quite a challenge for the kitchen staff in the middle of the holiday season. But both the food and the service were excellent. The e-mail correspondence before our arrival was quick and accurate and made you feel that a customer is important and appreciated. Many thanks to the owners and the staff!

If you visit nearby. This place is a must to eat. Price is cheap ( compared finnish overall ) . Portions are fine dining but maybe even a hint too much to eat ( not a bad thing ) . Children menu was success. So even you want just salad ( should visit here ) . 6/5 rating from us

Very nice surprise

We went to the museum and wanted to have something to eat first. First surprise was a sign asking to wait to be seated. But when we saw the menu we got interested. We ordered risotto and muikut. And some ice cream for dessert. It was a huge positive surprise.

Large new restaurant with excellent food from local producers. Situated next to Punkaharju Forest Museum and Asema Taidelaituri art gallery, in a beautiful setting surrounded by lakes. Great food, lovely service. A must go, if you are anywhere near!
