The barman recommended a French raspberry cider without any added sugar, and it tasted wonderful! They alsohave some good local beers in the bar. Seemed like a stylish restaurant, too, but we only stopped for a drink. Nice place.

The food is excellent, gastronomic level with generous portions, at a very honest price. Two days in a row we ordered the 4-course menu and both times it was excellent. No showing up: you order just an entrecôte and get top quality dry aged steak with generous truffle slices on it as a very tasty surprise... as an evidence: an entrecôte could not be anything else.
The wines were all excellent and the selection interesting and original, and the staff was able to pair the perfect ones with each dish.
The service was perfect. The cocktails are also perfectly made.
No showing up, just quality and professionalism. I wish I would live closer to Punkaharju..

This restaurant experience was very special when it comes to service, food and wine pairing. Usually all can be separately well but with this visit, it was all exceptional.
It's very unusual to go to rural Finland and find such a service in a fine dining restaurant. Unfortunately, I didn't get to know the name of our waitress but she had a slight foreign dialect in her Finnish. She was outstanding with the service: not only with her friendly and welcoming attitude but she made a top notch wine pairing recommendations with the dishes we picked.
They didn't have specific menu for the night but one could pick from a list of foods and list of wines. We went with our waitress' recommendations and it was brilliant. The food was really good and well made. We ate three course dinner during our visit.
I can whole-heartedly recommend this restaurant for any visit. Our waitress deserves an extra credit.

We lunch, dinner and breakfast the next morning at the restaurant. They use a selection of herbs and what seemed to be wild flowers that blend so well together. The flavors complimented the meals they were served with.
Great selection of drinks and we discovered a top tip, ask about open bottles if you fancy more than one drink but don’t any a full bottle. Ingenious 🥂.
The food was fantastic, perfectly cooked and while it rates as an expensive restaurant we found it to be extremely reasonable compared to similar quality in the cities.
Service was great and we just could not fault the dining experience.

Lovely coffee on a quiet Wednesday morning in February. It is really worth visiting this historic building. A light lunch is made out of local ingredients, and very healthy. Welcoming atmosphere and service makes you stay longer than planned!

We stayed at this hotel for one night and had a lovely dinner and breakfast. The dinner was incredible, our waitress was very friendly too. We both loved the soup and the fish especially. We had a lovely breakfast the next day.
We found on our week in Finland most breakfasts in the hotels were quite poor but this was our favourite breakfast. Simple, not a huge section but what was there was very nice. Lovely bread and cheese and the muesli was fantastic. Would definitely recommend a visit for a meal.

The three-course lunch was perfect and totally worth of 29 euros. They really easily also made the lunch vegan. The food was beyond good, especially when you have used as vegan to burgers and pizza in Lake-Finland area. Also the restaurant and whole hotel area is just beautiful. I highly recommend.

My wife and I stayed at the Punkaharju Hotel for 4 days over midsummer and I was really impressed with the dining overall - particularly bearing in mind this is rural Finland and not central Helsinki.
Firstly, the setting: gorgeous views of the lake, whether you are dining on the terrace or in the conservatory or you are having drinks on the balcony lounge area.
The food was diverse and consistently tasty. We tried everything on both the lunch and dinner menus over our stay there and almost every item was perfectly turned out. Great fish, steak, and fantastic marshmellow dessert! The wine list deserves special mention - really really good pricing and enough there to suit all tastes, alongside a keen bin-ends list that had great hidden gems on.

I visited this restaurant again after some years. It is now under new management, so we looked forward to rediscover it.
It was not a disappointment. We had a three course lunch, with 3 starters, choice of a main course and a desert.
The starters were creative and focusing on vegetables, such a zucchini and cheese
( burrata). It also included some lovely pickled "muikku" . My main course was pike perch, which was beautifully done . I even had the desert, ( which I rarely have). Really nice. Perhaps my only comment was that, as the ingredients, are quite suble in flavor, the dishes could have been a bit more seasoned. The service was OK, but they were a bit too busy.

Great (hotel) restaurant at Punkaharju ridge. Stylish and well planned menu with natural tastes and local ingredients. As the hotel accommodates families, there were lots of families with children, some having dogs, so there was quite busy atmosphere. Personnel was friendly but not fully professional, e.g. our waitress was not able to tell which beers the have on the menu and what styles they are. The overall experience was good and for sure, the best restaurant in Punkaharju.

Having dinner in a very hot evening in the restaurant fully booked by a hudge tourist groups, 135 gue!sts at the same evening!
Starters marinated white fish was very tasty main dish owen fish was excellent and the local tradional dessert wonderful. The whole menu was a great suprise especially when the restsurant was fully booked.

Beautiful old hotel and restaurant. We had lunch on a sunny afternoon.
The menu is very interesting and local ingredients are used.
Two of us had Steak Tartar as appetizer. It had a special twist by having mint in it. Excellent!
The other two of us had something very special: Raw turnip, fried nettles and pine shoots. This was super!
As main courses we had pan-fried perch, glazed beef and a mushroom risotto. The dessert of mushroom brûlée was a great surprise.
The staff was friendly and courteous.
This place is really worth the 30 minute drive from Savonlinna.

Very tasty three course meal but small portions. We were there at a busy moment and it took us three hours to have the three courses. Staff was very polite and handled the waiting well. But we left the restaurant as hungry as we went there. Portion sizes are the same as in tasting menu's. When you have only three, it is not enough.
I recommend the place and the atmosphere but also eating beforehand.

Dinner for two childhood friends in a beautiful hotel.Quite slow, but friendly service.Excellent food, allthou the pikeperch needed a little bit more salt.Nit a cheap place, but you can afford it once a summer. A lot of nice things to see near it, beautiful views. Next summer I'll test the lunch.Book a table, very popular.

Fabulous location with stunning views over the lake. Great service from all of the staff and excellent food.
Dining area needs air conditioning as it was like a sauna. Prices are a little on the high side.
