Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Vaiha Asema is a family owned restaurant. It is situated in the historical railway station of Mikkeli. The construction drawing of the building is from the year 1888. Extension parts were built in 1902 and 1925. The original idea of the restaurant is to cook...authentic Finnish food from fresh and pure ingredients. However, this summer they offer Greek meze lunch with Finnish nuances. Both appetizers and warm main courses were very delicious. Besides, even dessert buffet was included in the price (12.70 euros). The interior is very cozy and they have a summer terrace, too. It is easy to recommend this restaurant.More

Great value for money and tasty! We went for a three course lunch at a cost of under €12 (half price for children under 7). Starter of cauliflower and cheese soup, main of chicken with rice and vegetable (lots of salad options also), and desert...of Finnish traditional kiisseli, which is a mixed berry cold soup. All the food was delicious! There is also water and a non alcoholic Finnish beer (kotikalja) along with coffee for after! Well worth every penny!!!More

First visit though had visited the small station before without noticing any worthy restaurant there. Great food but comes with a price during their German weeks. Asked to change the reserved table which was just by the child door to the platform. Had to turn...my dirty beer glass. Themed interior not very attractive and missing a front door to separate it from the waiting lounge with drunken passengers. Good better than expected but interior less than what a high class restaurant should look. Still an eatery for busy passengersMore

This time we quickly ate only coffee and stuffed bagels. Bagel was a little old. Customer service continues to be polite and good. The location of the restaurant is good next to the travel center.

This restaurant has continued the tradition of the Railwaystation restaurant in the building since the 19th century with a versatile menu. Since the opening of Vaiha- restaurant a few years ago, the travellers and also local people have filled the seats especially at lunchtime. Good...food and tradional notalgic enviroment takes you back to the history when travelling by train was a new experience.More

The restaurant at the Old Railway Station offers good home-cooked food - Christmas is also a Christmas lunch. Because of the popularity, it is a little busy. Close to an hour or two parking spaces with a parking disc.

I was told in before hand that this railway station restaurant Vaiha is good. It is always pleasent when a restaurant surpasses your expectations. Vaiha did just that. The Lunch buffet consisted of pike-perch fish seljanka, pork in beautiful sauce with mashed potatoes, very tasty...salad with very fresh tomatos and juicy root vegetables slowly cooked in owen. Everything is made of local area raw materials. And it all tasted so good. The place is tidy and service is good+. Old wooden railwaybuilding offers nice casual atmosphere. Price for lunch buffet was 10€. Recommendable.More

To this date, I've been a fan of Vilee while staying at Mikkeli, but... Vaiha really was something great! Stationed at the train station of Mikkeli, there is good lunch (I've heard) and we went here for dinner. Menu quite small, but everything we tasted...was great at very affordable price. Had a good beer with the main course, topped off with delicious dessert - around 25e for main, dessert & special beer of this quality is a bargain, thumbs up big time!More
