I took my friend for a surprise tour and booked for us a soup lunch and macrame-course. We felt very welcome on arrival. The stuff was playing well their role in this surprise theme and my friend loved the experiences. Sup was delicious and the portion was big, more than enough. Lovely local breads were available too.

I didn't have too many expectations for this place, thought it is more designed for women's liking. And how wrong I was. This place , once a rectory, was beautiful and well worth a visit for men as well. Beautiful area with shops, animals, nice old houses just beside the lake. And the lunch in main building was really tasty and enjoyable.

In a nice building, the summer brunch was special when carried to the table. Not wonderful for the price. Own baked bread was positive with real butter.

Excellent food and super friendly service. Great for a stop en-route. The surrounding is idyllic with a lake view and lots and lots of flowers and shoes

Fabulous location and buildings by the lake. Food was great. We had the salmon soup and it’s highly recommended. Definitely worth a visit.

Having a Sunday lunch here rather than in the city centre proved to be a good choice. Nice atmosphere and tasty food. The buffet had mostly everything one would need to be satisfied all day. Unfortunately it was a bit too expensive.

We had the lunch buffet while we were there, it is quite affordable and showcases foods made with locally sourced ingredients. The dishes are quite traditional with some modern touches. A nice restaurant and place to visit to have some Finish food.

The exquisite building includes a restaurant and cafe, a souvenir shop and a handicraft shop. Christmas lighting before Christmas.

Lovely buffet with lots of variety. Nice coffee shop also. The building is nicely decorated and the garden in summer is very nice. In winter they have beautiful lights also.

We were at Kenkavero for a private luncheon that filled the placebo capacity. Service was cheerful, friendly and staff went the extra mile to give e a copy of the house wine label - while ensuring that 100 guests were all supplied wiht all thier more usual needs.. Food was buffet style and there was good variety and plenty of refills. The wine is a very gentle Chilean 'say blanc' which suite the food well. This is an old manse wiht lots of space to walk around and good arts and crafts stores in the old farm buildings. IT is on the lake, plenty fo parking and only .6 of a km walk for the city centre. A 'must do' when you are in Mikkeli or passing through.

I visited the cafe and enjoyed the salmon pie and cup of coffee. The salmon pie was very rich and fleshy. The coffee was fresh and good. I took another cup and got it for free. The place was still summerly decorated but it did not hurt me. The butterflies had been used in decorations and they were particularly beautiful. We huddled in the place at a quiet moment and enjoyed the silence. When we left, other customers arrived. A nice afternoon coffee break.

I had a pulled pork burger for lunch. It cost 15 euros. The portion included grilled pork with BBQ sauce, root vegetable roll, crispy salad, fresh cucumber, roasted onion and herb mayonnaise. The roll was crunchy and suitably browned. It was even a bit hard to cut. The salad could have been something more crisby. Meat was good but the flavor was a bit covered under the fried onion perhaps bought as a preparation. The service was friendly but somewhat absent. Maybe the reason was rush because there were a lot of customers. I think this was understandable. I drank a bottle of local apple juice soda produced in Kangasniemi. It was good. The interior and the milieu was quiet in the former so called vicar's room. Dishes were quickly picked up after eating, giving a professional image. I specifically asked the English version of the menu, but they reported to me that the marketing had not produced it yet. They thought that if it was found on the website. I checked that. There is only one mention about Kenkävero's special hamburger in English under the section called "Restaurant". The buffet menu table looked spectacular and had several options though I did not try it.

We thought there is only one building to visit but there were many. Different kind of shops, exhibition, bakery, restaurant, cafe, animals, garden... Everything was nice and clean and surrounding was beautiful and very well taken care of. We drank cafe and had pastries in the summer cafeterian. Very good and compared to other places, the price wasn't bad at all.

1: The lunch menu was fantastic today. A bit expensive but worth every penny. 2: Location is perfect. Very close to the main road #5, but not too close that it would bother. 3: Historical surroundings and furniture. 4: Friendly service. 5: There's also a shop to get the souvenirs.

Overall: 4 Comments: slightly outside the center, ready and available coming with a car from Helsinki and looking for a nice place for a Pitstop. There are some interesting 'attractions' on the same location such as gift shops and St.clause's summer workshop. There are also many plants on the premises for those interested. The cafe close to the waterfront has a varied Finnish menu of good quality.
