Spicy food, cosy place

First thai restaurant in Kuopio. Tiny and spicy heh-heh. Some 15 years ago visiting first time with our whole family. We did not have common language but food orders were completed. Card payment was not possible. - This restaurant has maintained it's original and genuine home-made taste on a high level. Just amazing achievement!

Fresh Hot Food!

Located just adjacent to City Home Apartment, we were the last to checkin for dinner before closure at 7.30 p.m. local time. However the hostess was kind to accomodate our request for a quick fresh meal. The green curry both vegetarian and sea food was tasty with jasmine rice. Spring rolls were prepared fresh served with traditional sauce. Though a small restaurant since we were the only diners it was peaceful. The place is decoratedwith thai handicrafts and paintings including photos from Thailand. Vegetarian friendly, popular for takeaways.

Home like cooking

A small but autenthic restaurant. Tom yam koung, meat in yellow curry, fish in red chili sauce and vegetables. The taste of food is genuine and spicy. The music and the people serving make longing for travel to Far East.

Good thai / can recommend

Good food, authentic taste. We asked for tom kha kai soup and green curry made spicy, and we got spicy!! Children can eat her also perfect non-spicy noodels or nice spring roles. Soup was 10€ and green curry 18€ (duck) children took shrimps for 22€. So fairly priced, and feels like cooked at thai home. We where only one in restaurant, majority is takeaway during dinner. During lunch time it’s busy on working days.

Can't recommend this kind of place to anyone.

I went here to pickup a take-away dinner. Sweet and sour chicken with rice and spring rolls ended up costing over 20€, which was quite expensive, so I expected the food to be good. The restaurant was tiny with around ten seats. The environment felt weird, and I honestly felt like walking into a home and asking for food. I was having some communication issues as they couldn't speak Finnish or English, and had to order pointing things out from the menu paper. When I came home, I was disappointed as the chicken tasted weird and not good at all. The spring rolls were luckily okay, but won't pay 8€ for them. Overall I didn't like this restaurant, and won't probably come again.

Cheap and cheerful Thai

If you want a simple, spicy three course meal at lunchtime the this tiny place is very good. Have eaten there for many years and enjoyedit!

Food made with love

Just arrived from Thai trip few months back so it was good to compare. Food is amazing and delivered fast. Ingredients where fresh and just the right spiceness. Athmospere was like arriving to someones home for dinner.. Very friendly and it seemed like 3 generations were working in kitchen and desk. Dont let the odd-looking building fool you. This is one of the best Thai restaurants in Finland when just conparing the quality of the dish.

A trip down memory lane

I first discovered this place about 11 years ago when I last lived in Kuopio. It was a little gem that opened my eyes to Thai cuisine and ever since whenever I visit a new Thai restaurant I compare the food to what I used to eat here. It was with great excitement that I returned to Kuopio and not in a small part due to this place. However, the little old lady that used to do the cooking seems to have gone now and the food has been adapted a little to local tastes. Maybe my expectations were too high but I was saddened by the change. The food was still good but not as good as it once was. The soup still packed a punch but the flavours weren't as clear and crisp as I expected and the punch wasn't close to being the knockout blow it used to be. The Beef Red Curry was full of flavour but lacked the slight anise flavour I once loved. Don't get me wrong, I will go back on a regular basis but I will always remember the little old lady and the awakening to Thai cuisine she gifted me.

Exceeded our expectations

We came to Kuopio and wanted to find a good Thai experience. Have to admit that we were sceptical, but Siam Thai really delivered. My colleague ate green curry with shrimp and was very satisfied with the taste. I had noodles with chicken and chili - excellent. So, in our opinion you should not shy away the looks of this place but give it a try.

Euro-Thai food in Kuopio

We visited Thai restaurant in Kuopio on a weekend day, meaning that they did not had a lunch offer, like they have during weekdays. The service was fairly friendly, and the time needed to prepare the food was fairly short one. However, we were bit disappointed since all the five different meals were very much based on the same base sauce... It looks like they had tuned their menu to be non-spicy. During the lunch time they did have some guests anyway, so people seemed to like that. I have had better Thai food experiences, but this restaurant is the only Thai-restaurant in the nearness.

The food is excellent, prices reasonable for Finland, atmosphere just OK.

I live in Kuopio and there are few places I go often. This is my favorite restaurant in Kuopio. The food is always good. The lunches are quite tasty, filling and fast. The atmosphere is just average, but the food and price make up for it big time. Finland is not a cheap place to eat out anyway, but three adults can fill up on really good food for about 50 euros.
