During a business trip I enjoyed a dinner at this restaurant. Great smiley service. Had garlic Roquefort escargots and black/White pork. Both dishes were good (8/10). If you are staying in the hotel or nearby this place is worth visiting.

Perfect restaurant for a holiday diner, friendly people and reasonable priced for a restaurant in Finland
Was there for a business dinner and the meal was ok even if nothing very special. The problem was that together with the dessert we required a cognac directly to the waitress, she had 2 and advised the better one but didn't mention at all...the price of 30euro for shot!!! In the end we paid for the wine of the whole dinner 55euro and than 60 euro for 2 small glass of cognac!!!! That was completely unprofessional and really a rip off overpriced!! We found the same exact cognac the next day in Turku for 18euro in a even more elegant restaurant!!! So why to charge almost double?? The next day I complained also at the hotel and left copy of the receipt and phone number but never received a phone call or explanation. Really bad service. Don't go at all. For sure you can find better restaurant for better prices.More
I went for a late lunch with a colleague to this bistro. The ambiance is nice and the staff is friendly too. I ordered the sea-food stew (Bouillabaisse) for the main course & dessert (chocolate mousse & cookie, ice cream) which I think was the...house specialty and it included an espresso too. The stew was good to my taste. Dessert was also nice. There is some room for improvement though w.r.t. the chairs (without any cushion material) which were bit uncomfortable or may be we sat for bit longer :DMore
Nice French inspired food where the local also come. One of the best offers on am Monday evening. Had snails and deer which both were god
With my team I ate in this restaurant and I have to say that also the dogs cannot eat this similar food. We are a group of 15 players 10 of staff and nobody ate! It’ unbelievable!!! Watch Photo please!
Food was very good. We ate 3 meals dinner and everything was really tasty. I warmly recommend take the liver portion, It was probably the best liver I have ever tasted! Service was friendly and helpful.
I like salt in my food, there is a limit. It happened here! If you stay in Sokos I advice to look something else for your dinner place. There is plenty of good fine diners in Kuopio. The waiter was not even sorry and no...compensation was offed. Wine was good.More
Frans& Sophie is located at the ground floor of Puijonsarvi Hotel. The interior design is warm and inviting, reflecting on modern brasserie and bistro design. The menu could have been a bit more innovative even if the focus is on the classics and bistro comfort...food. Our menu Seasonal Green Salad: Asparagus, fresh cucumber, San Marzano tomatoes and sherry vinaigrette -The salad was a way too basic and hardly with any tomatoes and asparagus - basically two lettuce leaves with dressing. It really is questionable why lettuce should be listed on a la carte menu. If you mention asparagus, add asparagus - and not just one piece of it. Asparagus Soup: Brioche and cold-smoked salmon tartare -It was served in a deep plate with max 1 dl of asparagus soup. The taste was good but why to spoil it with a lack of soup. I thought that it was the asparagus season and promotion. Bouillabaisse: Salmon, whitefish, king prawn tails, mussels, aioli and country-style potato wedges. -Bouillabaisse is a hearty dish, an iconic fish stew and it deserves proper presentation. Our bouillabaisse was served in breakfast size porridge plates - and again with hardly any fish. The amount of 5-6 mussels isn’t much to eat. Also, the rare fish pieces still had the skin on which made it unnecessarily annoying to eat it. Only five white wines listed? You really need to look at your wine selection/pricing, stingy food portion sizes - and rethink the classics if you want to be a proper bistro and want returning guests. This was perhaps part of the reason why there were only two tables with guests during our visit. Not planning to be back in the near future ... shame.More
Good and diverse food. Breakfast buffé for the Sokos Hotel. A variety of sitting places and possibility to sit outside as well.
Thank you!
Food was pretty ok. No mind blowing but good enough. Nice atmosphere and good location. But the staff is incredible nice. Wine collection surprisingly good yet could be wider. You really feel wellcome there.
We appreciate your comments. Thank you.
Had brunch here with the parents. I was happy to try a new french place - but the brunch itself, at least, was not very french. You could see very clearly that they wanted to play it safe and please everyone, even picky customers (children?)....The salad components were separate and without seasoning, and the salmon as well. Otherwise, not a problem, but these took space away from actually planned dishes with new flavours and combinations, which is what I go to a restaurant for. Crème brûlée was good, I have to give them that. But a peek at their à la carte menu showed that the pleasing everyone continued there as well: They had some french food but also a menu straight from american diner - in case you didn't want anything french. Please make up your mind and decide if you want to be a french restaurant - or a basic family restaurant.More
Thank You for your comments. We appreciate them and we try to develop our action all the time.
We love coming to this restaurant for dinner. The food is exceptional and service is very good. Will keep coming back.
We were not supposed to have brunch but because it was served until 3 p.m. in Sunday we took that option. There was a plenty of dishes available. Especially cold appetizer table was full of different options from fresh vegetables to salads and terrine. The...warm dishes were easy-going French food if you can say so. There was also many kinds of desserts and a good selection of cheeses for Finnish a restaurant available. For a child the price was the same as his age (four euros in our case) until 12 years. With S-card you get the brunch for 25 euros. I think it was well worth the price.More
I selected fish menu. Excellent selection. They offered good Riesling wine for the wish. Nice service. It is part of the hotel I stayed
