I was here only once for lunch and I was in Stockholm for work. I looked for a very good vegan-asiatic restaurant and this was one among the list. Of course I came with lots of expectations. They gave me a seat and a ginger-like drink quickly and...gave me the unique lunch dish! I was reading during the waiting and... More

Although we are not normally vegetarian we required vegan meals in Stockholm and Lao Wei was our very best experience. The dining room is small and reservations are necessary, we arrived without one but were seated within ten minutes. We were there for dinner so there was a full menu. It was difficult to choose because everything looked fascinating. In... More

Little cosy place with a very good chinese-vegan cousine (opinion from a non-vegan). Prices are on average for Stockholm (which is expensive).

We came here for lunch after a long schlep from Central Station, to be told that they have just one dish for lunch which is the meal of the day. It was very disappointing since we were looking forward to a good vegetarian Chinese meal. The website does not mention that they have just one dish for lunch. THis dish... More

Loved the food here, tried several of the dishes and they ranged from good to great. Nothing fancy, stripped down design of the restaurant is reflected by the simple but tasty food. From my seat I could see into the kitchen and watching the older white haired chef who was wearing a bandana work the wok added visual entertainment. Great... More

LaoWai is probably one of the smallest restaurants in Stockholm ... on a street off the beaten track .. serving vegetarian food. Don't let this fool you! The food is simply stunning. The restaurant usually only serve one dish per day which is based on season and availability of ingredients. No additives, no fuzz... simply great

This small restaurant is on Luntmakargatan, probably the street in Stockholm with the most authentic Asian restaurants. We arrived early and got the last non-booked table. It filled up quite quickly. The food arrived fast directly from the kitchen. Lovely taste and variety among the dishes. Very far from the typical Chinese restaurant in Sweden, worth a visit for everyone... More

This little place is not very exciting interior wise perhaps, but the food is outstanding! If you love food this is a must go. Asian cousine at its best! This is one of the best restaurants in Stockholm for sure. Could highly recommend to go there with a bunch of friends, order different dishes and share them! And the biggest... More

Dine at Lao Wai if you are vegetarian. Dine at Lao Wai if you are non vegetarian. I promise that you will love their food. Everything is woked and very properly done. I know because I saw the chef all the time. We ate Gong Bao Su Ji (soy protein is the base) and several other courses. The homemade ice... More

Staying in Vasastan

Neighbourhood Profile
Vasastan
Vasastan is one of those neighborhoods that almost looks too good to be true. It has the winning combination of a central location, tranquility, and beautiful buildings – housing sophisticated bars and eateries – that makes this neighborhood Stockholm’s most sought-after place to live. If walking through this area makes you feel like walking through a fairy tale or picture book it’s no surprise, as it’s actually the film set of the famous Swedish children story Karlsson-on-the-Roof. No matter what season, Vasastan manages to impress in the sunshine, covered in snow and won’t even lose its charm when soaked in rain.
