Small place in the Old Town. Very friendly and expeditious service. It was late, we were hungry and tired so appreciated food coming soon! Delicious meat balls and salmon. Would go back, if only we had more days!!

Just order the moose as starter and don't do anything else that evening, except considering taking that moose again. Btw. Main courses were great too (had reindeer, meatballs and entrecote)!

We took the famous Swedish meatballs and other local dishes, really fabulous! Small intimate place with a Nordic atmosphere, as seen in movies, congratulations to staff and chef! Recommended without a doubt

It is a small place where you can eat local food. I tried meat balls it was really really good. I didn't eat it again in another restaurant to be sure to keep a good souvenir of it.

Having lived in France for many years, anything that looks like a cosy French Bistro will always attract me. I am so pleased it did. It has a large sign above the door saying 'Bar & Bistro'. This is a small cosy restaurant with a wonderful ambiance. At first, we visited for a glass of wine in the afternoon, and... More

We visited this place to celebrate my birthday and as foreign travelers we wanted to taste something new. All the plates were good, i found the potato pie served with reindeer over salt for my taste. Swedish meatball were great and mousse also.

Decided on my first day in Sweden I needed to dip into an obligatory bowl of host nation meat balls. Made famous in our country by a well known out of town furniture retailer I was nervous... My plate arrived and the aforementioned balls were massive!!! They were accompanied by a dollop of unpretentious and unassuming mash and a couple... More

We spent 4 nights in Gamla Stan and ate here the last night. We noticed people waiting outside every night for a table. Always a good sign. The dining area is small but very cozy. We arrived early, were immediately seated and had a wonderful meal. The highlights at our table were the skagen, reindeer and seafood soup. Prices are... More

We tried meatballs and Swedish sausage. The taste was very good. Good price. Cosy place. Turn around time may be a little long. Overall, it was a good experience.

Staying in Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen

Neighbourhood Profile
Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen
Gamla Stan is Stockholm’s historic old town and home to the Swedish Royal Palace. It’s the most central island of Stockholm and accompanied by the small island of Riddarholmen, mainly known for its famous Riddarholm Church. Gamla Stan tends to be a bit touristy at times but is definitely worth visiting: take a stroll past the well-preserved buildings and through the small (and also Sweden’s narrowest) alleys, which will make you feel like you’ve travelled back in time. This neighborhood offers a great combination of historical buildings and traditional Swedish restaurants.
