One point just for the view, but it’s not enough to save a disaster. First of all, a suggestion: if your work requires to have contact with clients, smile and be polite…
Service was really bad, the forgot water, I had to ask several times...for the dishes we ordered as starter (arrived after the main courses even if the restaurant was half empty), food quality was average, quantity poor, and the bill too much expensive for what we had. Please, avoid to eat here, trust my experience…More
When it comes to fish and seafood our favourite place is the 'Koralli' (Coral), high up on Aegiali's Sunset Boulevard. There is a big terrace with great views out to the sea and the Nikouria island, especially popular in the evening hours with the setting...sun. As it says on a blackboard the restaurant exists since 1981, it is thus one of older places in Aegiali.
The first time I went there by myself. Thanasis, a friendly and very professional young waiter, was in charge, and when I asked about fresh fish, he told me that they had 'Skaros' (Parrotfish), one of my favourite fishes, usually eaten grilled, and which exists in Greece only in the Southeastern part of the Aegean. The waiter told me that they had a small one for 7€ and a bigger one for 14€ left. I went for the bigger one and with it I had a 'Maidanosalata', a Parsley Salad, not often seen in Greece. The fish came with a separate little bowl of lemon olive oil, also a wet towel was brought.
Since I enjoyed the dinner so much I came again twice, both times with my wife. We continued with seafood. Once we asked for the 'Pikilia Koralli', a big seafood platter with fried small Shrimps, with Whitebait, Squid, Octopus Salad, added by tomato and cucumber. On the last evening we ordered again 'The catch of the day'. It was a fillet of 'Rofos' (Grouper) and a whole 'Skorpina' (Scorpionfish). All very fresh and excellent.
Naturally we had to wait for quite some time for the preparation of the fish, thus had as a starters a 'Taramosalata' (Fish Roe Salad). We always tried to get bearded Thanasis as a waiter, avoiding the one, who was walking around and taking orders, aggressively chewing a gum. Their white house wine, served in a blue tin caraffe, was quite good and relatively strong.More
Amazing find close to the harbour in Aegiali Port. The best homemade food I think I have tasted in 25 years of coming to Greece. Pothiti looked after us so well and was so helpful in explaining each dish. Fresh fish and local delicacies all...lovingly made by Pothiti mother.
Don’t miss this place - a rare find.More
Nice restaurant, good food, solid effort, nice view
Would like to be more flexible on the seafood - portion wise - especially on the lobster past, since you have to call well on advance for ‘reserving’ same....
During our holidays in Amorgos we spent some days in the beautiful beach of Aegiali till the sunset and we stopped here to have dinner. We tasted a good greek salad, a moussaka and fried shrimps. The restaurant prepares dishes with fresh fish.
