Visited this restaurant for the 1st time, definitely won’t be the last. They offer an extensive menu at very reasonable prices. Upon our visit we were spoilt for choice. We eventually chose the Chicken and Ribs which turned out to be a great choice. Be...warned if you make this choice, it’s a good job you get a finger bowl and plenty of napkins on the table, really really messy. The food was excellent and service was impeccable. Must say went down very nicely with a carafe of house red.More

So good to be back to this restaurant, the food is consistently good. This trip I had prawn stir fry with noodles, beef curry and gyros - all the best food! Cannot wait to go back. And Graham pours the best drinks! Amazing view out...the back.More

Just wanted to say a HUGE THANK YOU to the owner of the Black Lantern, as he kindly offered to give me and my father a lift back to our accomodation. My dad suffered a fall on 3rd day of our holiday and although Greek...A&E dismissed his injury. Its now been confirmed in a UK hospital he has fractured his lower back in a few places. I am deeply humbled by his kind actions. Also. As usual the food here absolutely gorgeous, and we always eat at The Black Lantern when we visit Western CreteMore

The food is good but the service isn’t great. We went twice in a week and chose not to return again due to the service. We had to sit out the front on our second visit as they had the whole of the restaurant hired...out which wasn’t an issue. What was an issue though is my elderly mother walked in to use the toilet and was made to feel uncomfortable and like she shouldn’t be in there by the English man. I’m not sure whether the reservation was a celebrity or something, but all we cared about was our own food and using the toilet facilities. Our food was extremely slow to come out and we were served after people who arrived a while after us. The waitresses are really lovely people and I don’t think it’s their fault for the bad service, perhaps a miscommunication in the kitchen or management issues.More

Definitely the best restaurant in the area. The recommended Sea Bream was amazing and the grilled octopus (first time) became my all-time favorite 🌞

Despite Covid and all the extra restrictions the staff are doing a great job making their guests feel welcome and safe. The restaurant is spotless and the menu is huge. There is something for everyone whether you want traditional Greek, fish and chips, spaghetti carbonara,...a curry or sweet and sour chicken. And the deserts..... I think the team has been practicing during lockdown. Don't miss it!!More

Food here was good, in particular some of the more traditional Greek dishes. We did find however that the owner of the store (I think? The English gentleman) was giving a lot of attention to what I think must be his regular customers, having a...chat and not really doing much else. The poor lady running the restaurant in reality was doing all the work (and doing an excellent job of it!) but was clearly very busy and not getting any of help from him. We had to wait quite a while to be served and to pay. I think that told me everything I needed to know about how he runs his restaurant! For that reason we didn't come back.More

I have to say not only is the food fabulous and standards consistent but their COVID restrictions are stringent. If ever you are going to be safe eating out it is at The Black Lantern. They are strict for your benefit - so adhere to...it. The tables, chairs and surrounding floor areas are stripped sanitised and reset every time a table is vacated. Your safety and the safety of their business is paramount - please respect that. As for the food and service what can I say - always excellent. Please support their business in these difficult times as we would be lost without them. Thanks Ewelina and Graham for keeping us safe xxMore
