During our visit in Platanias we was in fact about to visit the, for the location, famous restaurant Astrea, which we later on did try as well, however, if you instead prefer food made by the heart, and with great honor to please any customer,...well then I would recommend you to visit this Restaurant. We did go back several times, and every time we did order their Saganaki, which is Cheese made in an little cast iron frying pan. It is usually served with a slice of lemon which you squeeze over the dish and then it's ready to enkoy it's all flavors to an astonishing environment, surrounded be a staff who wish only the best for you! We was allowed to take a picture of the staff, as well the Citchen staff who was honored we wanted to have them as an part of our unforgettable memory from the visit in Platanias and their very nice Taverna. Two of the very kind staff we did speak especially much with and that was the owner Lorenzo and his Cousin Vespena who told us what to visit and things which is worth to do in Platanias and near by.More

We were encouraged in by a staff member as we were walking by. Never a good sign if they have to ask you in, so we should have known better. We were encouraged by the fact most tables were taken, so stayed and ordered the...meze, partly because it had an aubergine dish on it. What a disappointment, we had tsatsiki which nothing special, very greasy saganaki, garlic bread that was ok, then some sort of courgette fritter which was good, filo pastry cheese dish that were more like samosas than pies, a salad that was basic, with no feta and no dressing. This was followed by meatballs and another meat dish, both served with a handful of soggy chips. We then waited ages for the fruit and raki that was also stated to be included. We were on the verge of leaving as all the attention was being given to other customers when the waiter tried to give us a dessert menu. We asked for the fruit and raki promised on the menu. The waiter appeared embarrassed and did bring extra raki but that the redeem the whole eaxperience which was further marred by the fact that some member of the team and another person, sat tallying bills and smoking throughout the whole. We know that people do smoke in restaurants in Greece but we didn’t expect it from staff. Overall our worst meal in 10 days in Platanias.More

We foundation this Greek taverna by coincidence and tried their Meze. The ladies in the kitchen made really good food so we went back two more evenings during our holiday. The view over the sunset is amazing. The waiter is joking and the atmosphere is...familiar.More

This is positioned half way to the upper old town Platanias . It is a very friendly, family run restaurant and we had a lovely meal here. The staff were very nice too.Would recommend a visit here.Very relaxing.

Well, we have visited this place before. Food is better than average, but this time we got a little too wise waiter, spoke better english than average, I guess was a little frustrated, thus providing almost rude service. My wife wanted plain spaghetti for the...kids, and she explained to be precise: "plain, so nothing added, except some olive oil. Waiter: "I know what plain spaghetti means." I asked whether the white house wine would be moschofilero: "I don't know". Perhaps Vilana? " Who cares, it's housewine. Almost made us leave at that point, without kids would have. Well, I guess the waiter understood having behaved stupid, as we did not got provoked and did not turn hostile on him, and afterwards he tried to be friendly, but it was so obvious, just trying to correct own misbehavior. It happens... ? Not that good experience though, for the last night's meal.More

We spent our holidays in a flat just next to the taverna and came to Haroupia on several evenings. We especially liked the appealing menu - not too many options, but just the right number of different meals to have a good choice and they...serve Greek food only. There are also several vegetarian options. Furthermore the entire staff is extremly friendly and welcoming, we don't know if it's a family run business but we think so. Thanks to the nice view and the fact that the taverna is quite small, it has a very nice atmosphere, just what you expect when going to a taverna in Crete.More

Really dissapointed in how small the portions were compared to the other restaurants in the area. The taste of the food was mediocre. Would not recommend.

Sorry for the unexpected incident. Thank you for your comments . Give us a second chance because I believe it was a random event because usually the main dishes are large portions.
