We found the place to be nice and the food was fresh & tasty. The Createn salad in particular was really fresh, the best we had so far in greek. Our waiter was... More

Life music, very good and tasty food, excellent wine selection for reasonable price. Professional service with some extra personalapproach :-) And all this in a romantic environment in Athens down town. Highly recommended for both business and vacation!

The Taberna is located in a beautiful st. In the middle of the placa, and it offers you the complete Greek experience. We went there thursday night and were able to enjoy a live show of Greek music while having a Greek seafood dinner and drinking local Ouzo. And everything was perfect. The waiters were very nice and kind, and... More

Service was great and the food was quite okay. Grilled chicken breast was overcooked and thus too dry. Kebab was very tasty, though. Solid halva for dessert. Pity that the live music was so loud.

What a beautiful little spot we stumbled upon. Between the string lights, the musicians, the waiter who makes you feel like family, and the fresh delicious seafood, we had such an enjoyable evening. It was exactly what you think of when you imagine a romantic dinner in Greece.

After fighting my way through the flea market, I was hungry. I found this place by accident. I ate inside instead of at one of the attractive but small outside tables, which were full. Was I the only non-Athenian in the place? It seemed as if everyone knew everyone else. Even an an outsider it was a warm and welcoming... More

Staying in Plaka

Neighbourhood Profile
Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
