Salero offers a large variety of dishes, mostly of the Spanish cuisine with Italian touch. Maybe it was unlucky, but we came when the restaurant was packed so not all dishes were available for order, and the waiters were always busy so it hurt the service a little bit. We had 2 types of pastas, one with chicken and tomatoes,... More

Although it offers many and varied choices for eating and drinking, the area of Exarcheia can be very hit and miss when it comes to having a genuinely good meal: thankfully, Salero does not disappoint and offers truly tasty dishes, with notable attention to detail, that won't break the bank. With an extensive menu of starters, salads, tapas, pastas, entrees... More

A colorful happy place. Very friendly staff. Great menu, the paella was my favorite. A great choice of dishes, and a change from all the Greek food generally around.

Salero restaurant is an amazing restaurant located in the streets of Athens. It is located right next to a busy restaurant street, but this restaurant is very quiet. The food they serve tastes amazing and the staff is very friendly. When you ask for the bill you will get some melon and/or ouzo on the house. During our 1 week... More

If you want to get away from Greek salads, lamb chops and expensive touristy stuff, this is the place. We stumbled upon it and went back for more the next day. Great selection of wines, by the bottle and by the glass. Highly recommend it!

This restaurant has a Spanish touch (decoration, signature dishes, wines & beers from Spain), although is not an exclusive Spanish cuisine restaurant. The restaurant is situated at a very noisy street BUT has a hidden back yard which is an oasis in the middle of chaos. Totally recommended.

A very tasty fusion of Mediterranean dishes that provides value for money on tasty food. You can get full on tapas only but we got mains as well which were equally tasty.

Staying in Exarchia

Neighbourhood Profile
Exarchia is in many ways Athens’ best-kept secret, discovered by relatively few international visitors. Located behind the main University and Polytechnic buildings, it is unsurprisingly home to many students, intellectuals and politicos. This is reflected in the area’s vibrant street art and graffiti, which seems to cover almost every inch of wall space. Some of the best Athenian tavernas are located here, as well as its most alternative bars and underground music venues. You'll find political bookshops and quirky stores here, yet it is also a neighborhood inhabited by families and older folk. On Saturdays, punks and grandmothers alike head for Kallidromiou Street, nestled below Strefi Hill, to pick up fresh produce at the traditional laiki agora (street market).
